Next question.....where would one find this one next spring? I'm sure this can't be a WalMart canna. I'm going to be checking for places to purchase, but right now a lot of places don't have canna's listed. Maybe some of you could put up your favorite places to purchase rhizomes. One of mine is Horn Canna Farms. OMG, I just checked and they have it.

Brugie....one of the men who work for me lives a few miles from Horn Canna Farm and brought me some huge rhizomes from them. I couldn't believe how huge they were and Cleopatra was one of them. Mine is up around 12" now and I'm really excited to see it bloom. Originally I got it for the foliage, but now I'm really ready to see a bloom.

I've ordered from them before and was totally happy with what I got. Next year, I'll have to order again.

I like to buy my cannas from eflowergarden.com. They have a good selection and incredible prices. I received an email from them recently asking what I would like to see on next Spring's list. I just emailed back and asked them for Cleopatra.

I want the first rooting that comes off that beauty. Almost as pretty as the owner. No it isn't even close even though it is pretty.

I too purchased from Horn's and was truly impressed. Cleopatra is also my favorite, not just for the gorgeous and unpredictable flowers, but also for the unexpected striping on the foliage that can give you a hint of what the flower will look like.

Antoinette, the red-leaved canna that I grew from the seeds you sent me last year has bloomed. Do you recognize what it could be? Or is it a hybrid?

Clare, that looks like my really tall one. 6 to 8 ft., and the resident canna expert told me it was 'Intrigue'.

no it isnt Intrigue the leaves on this one are too wide to be Intrigue .more like red stipe canna.Intrigue has darker narrow leaves and blooms peach.....

Is the tall, dark stranger possibly Red King Humbert?

Thanks, everyone. Antoinette very kindly sent me these seeds last winter so we've decided that I have both the red-striped hybrid and an Intrigue hybrid. Here's the Intrigue hybrid with the narrow, pointed leaves:
