My two otherwise healthy camellias look moderately fine, even in bloom, but close up you see that their blooms separate from the plant with the characteristic brown 'bruise' associated with bud drop.
And, of course, the flowers only last a few days before hitting the deck.
My books say that it is associated with dry soil, but that cannot be the case here as the part of the garden they are in gets regular inundations from our very wet weather.
Any ideas, suggestions???

Hmm...Mike, do you have ants or other bugs that might be causing it?
No ants because of the inundations - ants have a hard job finding dry enough soil around here...
