Okay y'all. Maybe Root doesn't use the tiny shoots to start new plants but I have! I started a bunch over the winter -- guess I was bored... Once they were established I gave them all away to my MG classmates. The key is that there is meristematic tissue at the area where the shoot attaches to the Mother plant. That's why they root so easily and grow so fast.

Also, if you want to start more that one plant from one cutting or shoot, there has to be at least one node on the piece of cutting, or it won't root... The node are also rich in meristematic tissue where the growth occurs.

Jeff ,congratulations on all your brug blooms. Probably made it even nicer coming home to the surprise blooms even with your CT problem. I have arthiritis so badly in my hands that it is very difficult for me to weed. I did spend a couple of hours weeding my seedling daylilies this afternoon. I just had to get it done, couldn't even see the daylilies when i started. I knocked off all the dirt from the roots and laid the weeds back down between the rows to work as a weed preventing mulch, I hope. But now my wrist and fingers hurt so much I can hardly use the keyboard. Donna

Root, you didn't invite me over for tea in your great looking garden but I'll be over right away anyway. It is so inviting looking. Donna

Well it figures...I finally picked up the good camera lastnight but it uses mini cdroms for media storage. Well it's mom's camera and the cd in the camera was full so I couldn't take any pics yesterday. I'm getting another cd this am but all the awesome blooms from yesterday are either closed or yucky from the weather. I think if the sun breaks out today, I'll have new blooms for new pics. Wish me luck.

JD, I think we ALL have as many camera, battery, full CD problems as we do gardening stuff. I'm not sure I've ever picked up my digital with a fully charged battery. Good luck, can't wait to see your pics. SherryLike
