This pic is a seedling bed. It has 60 brugs in 3 to 5 gal pots.
HARD TO BELIEVE
i could only wish >sigh<
they look great hope you get some good colors out of it
Most have never bloomed. All will be unique, but no doubles just yet. Next yr, the pink double.
Looking good. I love growing seedlings for the thrill of seeing a bloom never before seen. I can get so excited when I see that calyx open and the tendrils start to show. Have to hold me down to keep me away from the brugs then. LOL!
Can't wait to see the blooms on these.
They have sure grown Larry!
Going to be a great summer. Hope you get that dbl. pink.
My double pink seeds are still in the pod on my brug trying to ripen. Next yr for sure, some new doubles.
Wow Larry, looks like you have a full time job there.
However do you keep up?
BTW, I've been meaning to ask you about your 'Patio Brug'
were you joshing me??
A beautiful sight, Larry :)
Vi, no. How tall has yours grown? The moma plant is only 2 1/2 feet tall. I'll be posting a pic of its mom in the next day or so.
It hasn't grown much taller, just filling out a bit. Guess I really do need to keep it in a pot, huh? I really thought you were kiddin!
Please make sure I see that pic, K? I just can't imagine what you have, I'm so curious!
Can't wait to see what you get Larry!
Wow! look at all those babies! They look wonderful.
hummer....when were your seeds planted? How long did it take them to reach this size?
These were planted last yr at different times.
Good job. Will be waiting all year to see your double pink from those seeds. Lottsa luck! They sure grow well for you.
You are in zone 8a...I am in 9...how did you over-winter them? I am trying to see for myself, what I would have to do with seedlings and plants. Would covering them over maybe with a covered screen house and keeping them out-doors be enough?
i see who has green thumbs!! mercy very very stunning.. great... blessings.. you have beautiful ones i seen blooms of the greatest..
They look swell Larry, what a nice job you have done, I cannot wait to see what you get. I'm in 8a too and don't I recall that you grow yours in mostly shade?? If so, do you get lots of blooms?? I moved a whole group out, today, where they will get morning sun. The two that I have which get very limited afternoon sun, wilted every day, until I started watering them right before the sun hit them. Each day is a learning experience, whew!!
Looking good Larry!
What do you do with them all ?
The seeds come from your other brugs?
they sure look georgious
kathy
Your seedlings look good Larry!
I failed to mention that there are proably 20 different crosses
in the bed.
hummer_nut, Your seedlings look great. Are you keeping them where they are in the containers for the summer. Must be a job to keep them watered. That's why I elected to take my 60 out their pots (well all but 5 or 6) and put in the ground. Just couldn't keep them wet. And we haven't had any hot weather yet!! Donna
That sounds promising! I hope, that you will get some nice flowers.
Thank you Monika.
Rutholive, I plan on leaving these in pots until next yr. The ones I decide to keep will be double potted. I will place a pot inside a much larger pot. Example - a 3 gal pot inside a 15-20 gal pot.
hummer...could you tell me more about the pot within the pot. Will you fill the space with something? Sounds like it will keep the roots cooler? Please tell all !!!
As soo as it quits raining, I'll take some pictures and explain more. I also plant pot and all in the ground for a lot of my brugs, only the special ones get double potted.
Linda, they are looking good. You will have blooms before long. I know it seens like it takes forever for them to start, but start they will.
Linda, is that a bottle tree in your photo????
yes, very low maintenance.
yes, very low maintenance.
**LOL, you are a cutie, Linda!!! I know the Arky, MS, LA, maybe TN, AL, TX folks know about a bottle tree, but it is common knowledge???
I don't know anybody else with one, and I do get lots of comments.
That's pretty funny, Linda!! Of course I'd like it, we are both in zone 8a, LOL!!!
Shhhhhhh Larry. Please don't make it stop raining yet. We have been in desperate need of it. I'm tired of spending 5 hours a day watering. I can't get anything else done lol.
Larry, has it quit raining?? I would REALLY like to know about 'double potting'. And, you say to put a 3 gal pot in a 15-20 gal pot, wow, that seems like it would be too large for the 3 gal pot. So, what do you do after you put the smaller pot in the big one??? Do you put both in the ground or do you leave them on top of the ground?? I think they do something like that with African Violets, but I'm not at all what the procedure is and I would LOVE to know because it seems like something I could use and I'm going to the nursery today, which is one hour away, and I could pick up some larger pots...TIA!!!!!
Now, if I wanted to bump this up so Larry might see it sooner, how would I do that??? Just type BUMP ??
