Co-Op Caladiums how are they doing?
LOL........Ted, that looks like Black Dragon Coleus to me......still very nice combo!! I had a couple come up not at all what I expected either MrsCritterkeeper........guess when they start flinging those babies during harvest ya just get some renegades..........renegades is good!
Ted- Jeri is right...that's a Black Dragon coleus in with the Rosebud caladium. I'd be happy to take some cuttings for you (I'm doing some now for delphdiva). If you want some even though it's not an "ear" I'd be happy to send you some. And I surely wouldn't dream of taking a caladium as a trade for it (I'd have to send you my whole pot of coleus to make that a fair trade). Brenda
Thanks eyes...I considered it a "freebie" maybe it will make more? lol
I wish I had put mine in more sun. They seem to leaf out much better for you all who have planted them that way. Mine are on the north side of my garage and aren't leafing out fast at all. I'll get a picture soon and post it here.
Susan that's a lovely walkway!
Brugie, you can be a little thankful you didn't plant them in too much sun...some of mine are a little faded because it has been so hot here. The ones planted in a little more shade seem to have really rich deep colors so I guess each spot has its own good points.
Maybe mine just need more time. We are too cool today though. Right now it is only 64 degrees and I'm sure they aren't liking it very much.
Brugie mine have been pretty slow to do much too, and I have some in shade and some in sun!
I think its our strange weather! They like really warm temps if I am remembering right and we have had a lot of days that are low 70's and nights that were down in the very low 50's.
Maybe by August our will catch up!!!!
Pleeeeasse send some of that cool air down here, we are gonna burn up! Our heat indexes have been in the 100 to 110 for a few weeks . Now, I have zone envy!lol
Lottie, you wouldn't like it up here. The season is way to short. It seems like we just got stuff all in the gardens and only have three months at most before frost. Winters are long in Iowa.
We kept about 200 of the tubers potted so be can use them as fill-ins as the Spring and early Summer plants die off.
We're finding the pure white/greens will revert if given too much shade.
The red/greens pour on the sun!
The 'Miss Muffet' MAYBE an hour of sun in the morning.
The red/green/whites 3 or 4 hours seems to be to their best format.

Brugie...I don't know if I'd like it cold for very long, but I'd kinda like to see snow at least once! And you have those beautiful changes of the seasons..we have 3 seasons:
Cold & WET
HOT & Dry
VERY HOT & WET...lol
Thanx for the IDs, eyes. When I planted these, I was literally racing the clock, trying to get them planted before the mosquitos carried me away (it was getting dark), knowing it would be raining for the next few days (it rained for three weeks). So, nothing got labeled, except 'caladium' . . . lol!
Today I found two bulbs on the ground that must have gotten lost in the dark . . . they are sprouting! So I planted them, too.
All ya'll pictures look great!
Cheri'
Thanks for your compliment, Mscritterkeeper...they have filled in some since this picture was taken. We have had a cooler than normal summer (I am not complaining!) so they lagged a little taking off.
henryr, I like your enclosed setting...looks very private. I have an old coffeepot that looks like the one in your water feature.
Those look real nice, Nathalyn. Really brighten up that shady spot.
Looks like they're struggeling quite well.
Very pretty and I agree that they set that site off very nicely!
Ric
I am so happy with mine! And when I think they were about 17¢ each-- when I see them at $7-$14 a container in the nureseries around here!!! Thanks again, "eyes", all your hard work is giving enjoyment to a lot of people.
Those are great shots of all of them. I just love mine.
