that nylon stocking idea is a good one - seems I've seen nylon stockings used in gardens for many purposes.

I have used masking tape and just tape the flower shut. After it has been shut for two or three hours, the pollen should have made it's way up and that should be the end of it. When the stigma end turns brown, you are pretty safe in knowing it won't receive anymore pollen.
