My Mother had a horrible accident yesterday. She fell from a ladder, eight feet, in her store. She broke her thigh bone in at least three places, a twisted fracture. She has other injuries but at this time her leg is so bad they must fix it first. Surgery is this morning, please keep us in your prayers, she is diabetic and this could be bad. I will stay the night with her tonight, and update you all as I can.

Tracey, this is very sad to hear. It seems like you have had your share of health worries concerning your Mom lately and now this has happened. I wish there was something that I could do to help. Give Mom a hug and tell her that I will be praying for a speedy and complete recovery. This is so much for her to have to go through.

Update...... I am home for a shower. Mom's CT revealed revealed a compression fracture of T12 vertebra, she had kept telling me "I broke my back". So apparently she did, and she also has a few broke ribs. The surgery to repair the thigh bone went well, she has a titanium rod from her hip to her knee, her blood sugar was a little high, and she has a fever, but these are all normal considering what she has been through. She is getting a couple of units of blood today, and they are flying in a specially made brace for her tomorrow from Michigan. Thank you for all the warm thoughts, and yes this spring has not been very fun! Keep us in you thoughts and prayers.

Tracey, If I remember correctly you are not too far from St. Louis, MO. I will be in St. Louis for the National Daylily Convention the end of June, beginning of July.
My husband was just telling me I ought to extend it to see the area. So if I could be any help to you from the 5th of July, please let me know and I will change my plane reservation. I would be willing to come and help you at the greenhouse & nursery, or whatever help you could use.
Does that sound like something you could use? Don't say no too quickly just because we haven't met. I really would be happy to do it, and you could mentor me about brugs at the same time. You see I do have an alterior motive!

Tracey, I'm glad you had a few minutes to let us know how things are going. I wish the news had been a little better, but gosh, your mom is so strong. She will get through this too. You said a brace is coming...is that for her back, I'm assuming? No surgery needed for it? Take care and tell your mom that we are all thinking about her and saying prayers that she will recover quickly. Also praying that you will be strong for both of you.

Tracey, I just caught this thread! I am so sorry about your mom. I've been in a similar situation since New Year's Eve. Hospital duty is difficult for everyone and I hope you find time to take care of yourself too, because it would really be tough for your mom if she didn't have you!! Your mom is lucky to have such a wonderful, caring daughter.
