Looking for Comet NEAT

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Comet NEAT is visible now and won't be visible much longer. My husband and I found it last night. Through binoculars, it looks like a fuzz ball with a small tail. It should be visible to the naked eye if you have a dark sky.

To find out where to look for it, go to this web site
http://www.heavens-above.com and if you've never used it before, go to "select your location..." After you've selected your location go to the section called Astronomy and click on Comet NEAT. That will show you were the comet is located in relation to the nearest constellations. Then click on Whole Sky Chart and that will show you were the constellations are in your sky. Make sure the time at the bottom of the page corresponds to the time that you will be looking.

Here's an article on Comet NEAT.

Also with the binoculars I could see one of the moons of Jupiter. My husband said he could see two but I'm shakier than he is. Also, it was very evident that Mars is a red planet.
