I have several Yew shrubs which are at least 13 years old. Over the winter I was noticing them getting thin on needles. Well now spring is here is there isnt any new growth. They are not completly bare, but very sick looking and was wondering if anybody else was having this problem.
Is there a Yew eating bug?
According to my book (Readers' Digest Encyclopaedia of Garden Plants and Flowers) Yew roots are very susceptible to Honey Fungus, but is rarely killed by it.
That might explain your situation.
Mike
