Beautiful :)
Beautiful, monika. I can't wait to see your seedlings bloom this year. I know there'll be some beauties.
i'm such a sucker for a white flower.
Absolutely gorgeous Monika!!!
Wow.. so pretty!
Monika tell Liz she has to come visit you (with cutting utensils)!
Thank you for your nice comments about Velvet Lady. I will forward your praise to her hybridizer G. Koitzsch. He will be very proud about it.
It is two years ago now, that I have pollinated Velvet Lady for the first time. She doesnt take easy, if you miss the right time, the pollination will not take.
Stunning indeed, Monika...Stunning :)
This may be a stupid question, but I only became involved in brugs last year. monika, can you ship seeds or cuttings to the U.S? or does customs forbid it?
I can ship seeds and plants but a import permit and a phyto is required for both. Seeds are released after inspection, plants have to be quarantined for two years.
What a beautiful sight today! Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see her babies. Monika you are such a blessing to us, and such a wonderful friend, thank you for all you do, and Happy Mother's Day!
Such a beautiful pure white bloom. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.
I know nothing about import permits and have no idea what a phyto is, lol.
An import permit is free and you get it through the USDA/APHIS. Just takes a phone call and some paper work to be filled out. The phytosanitary certificate is something you pay for, but the seller gets it when the plants are inspected and deemed to be free of any health issues. The amount it costs depends on the number of plants that have to be inspected, I believe.
What a beautiful Mother to show us on Mother's Day. I bet she will have beautiful babies!

Velvet Lady looks so frilly and feminine to me. Very lovely brug.

It is very pretty. You are so lucky to have such a variety. Thanks for sharing your photos and making all of us WISH and WANT, that is what dreams are for. Always something to look forward to.
She is lovely Monika and I don't think you will be disappointed in her seedlings.
That is soooooooooooo pretty and feminine!! If I was ever going to import one, that would be my choice, just beautiful!!! Where would they be quarantined??? SherryLike
Sherry, you have to keep them quarantined at your home. At least ten feet away from your other brugs for two years and you can't take cuttings or use the pollen for that two years.

Oh, I never would have dreamed that - I visioned myself going down to a brug pound and visiting for a couple of years, ha!!! Thanks, Shirley SLike
Sherry...that is what I thought too...but only that it would be kept in Germany in a holding cell for 2 years! At least we would get to see it and have it in our own home!
So, what would it take to get one of Monikas beauties???
It would still take that import permit and some $$ and then hope that they don't freeze in the cargo hold of the plane. A grower from Germany or other country outside the US cannot be held liable for frozen plants.

What if Margie and I both got one and maybe another couple of people??? One permit might do for all, that's a question. Also, if several of us got one, would that make shipping for Monika easier or more difficult??? I've flown dogs all over and I'd love to fly that beautiful brug!!! SLike
Sherry, the brugs go to the person with the permit and that is where they have to stay until the two years are up. It is a bummer, but govt. regulations insist.
Brugie....are you saying they would have to stay at monikas home for 2 years, not ours? What if we promised to follow the rules? and keep it away from others and not use to hybridize, and all?
If you have the permit picturelady, then the plants will stay at your home for two years. You are able to enjoy their flowers.
Monika, do you know what it would take to get the necessary permit? Since Shirley is calling it an import permit, I assume I as the buyer would have to get it, is that right? Do you know where I could find out anymore about it? Thank you!
Also I guess I should ask...what other costs and things would be involved? and monika have you ever shipped any cuttings or rooted plants to the states or only seeds? And if not, why not? I think that is enough questions for now!
Is the permit expensive and how difficult is it to get a permit??? Have any of you tried this and, if so, how did it go. Shoot, I'd be willing to take a chance, sounds like fun to me. I've had a wonderful time getting plants from here in the states. I'd love a joint venture if the plants might be available and there was interest. SLike
