L'Amour....Holding my breathe...

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Oooooo....this is my last chance to see this L'Amour bloom for awhile! I'm holding my breathe that this one doesn't fall off before opening! LOL Tracey sent this a couple of weeks ago and it must have had 10 buds on it. They have all fallen off except this one! I'm keeping it inside since our weather has been so bad....storms and hail, I was afraid it would get damanged. X your fingers for me everyone!

Brinda, my fingers are crossed. LOL Can't wait to see pics of the bloom. Wish mine would hurry and bloom.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Fingers and toes crossed for you Brinda. Good luck!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh too sad for them all to fall off but one. The move was too much for them I guess. It sure looks nice and healthy!

These flower quite a lot Brinda, so I expect more buds are forming as we speak. Keep it fertilized once it gets over the shock of the move and being repotted. In spring they tend to be lighter in color, but in the summer they are just incredible!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone!

Kell....that pic is absolutely 'to die for'!!! I just love everything about this bloom.

I'm keeping it fertilized and yes....you are right...I've been inspecting it closely (without touching or breathing on it...LOL) and there are many more teeny-tiny buds! This is soooo exciting....as you all know...I've yet to see a brug bloom in person! Yeeeeeeeeeeha!!! I am a happy camper at all this anticipation!

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Oh my word!!!! Brinda good luck! Kell YOU TEASE!!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Fingers and toes are crossed here too! Good luck!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

The one bud on the L'Amour sent me is open today, but the flower is quite small. Is this typical of L'Amour, or is just not fully open yet? I don't have a digital camera yet, and my camera has a brand new roll of film in it, so I can't show a picture yet.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Oh mini...I wish I could see a pic of it How long will it take to open from this size? It seems like it has doubled in size in just a day or so.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

It is probably caused by the stress of mailing.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Yes Monika...I'm sure that is right. The plant is almost 3 feet and I'm so nervous about loosing this last bud. (But I do see many more tiny ones getting ready to start growing) Thanks for Xing fingers and toes for me! LOL

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Fingers crossed here,I love the way they smell!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Oh Rooty! I just can't wait....if it opens you will hear my screams all the way to Kansas!!! LOL Do you know how many times I've checked it so far this morning? I have to leave the house....I'm not getting anything done except watching it and reading on the computer! Ok....off to work for a bit!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Mini, no the flowers are good sized. Give it awhile to get used to its new home.

Brinda, how did Tracey send a 3 foot plant?

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

In a BIG box!!! LOL I imagine it was over 2 feet when I got it....and you know maybe I exagerate sometimes! LOL But really....pot and all...it is 3 feet now!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I wish I had her touch. She is amazing how she grows brugs. When I saw her GH, I was shocked at their lushness.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Good luck Brinda! I have my fingers crossed for you! I know what you mean about seeing your first bloom. I've never smelled one either! Take a good whiff for me too, when it blooms!

I know Kell....I wish I had Tracey's touch too! But I'm just learning...and learning...and learning! I have sooo far to go! This bud is getting huge and it's almost 9:00 pm....when will it open? LOL I have blisters on my feet from running back and forth!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Brinda, I remember that feeling! Soon!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Brinda you are too funny, I hope that one holds on for you, they are beautiful. Sylvia, I am sure it was from mailing. I tried to save a few buds but some were so big I had to cut them a little. I think yours was one I had to cut a little.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

GM Tracey! I was up and running to check on my little bloom this morning at 6:00 am! Yep....it's looking great, just starting to break through. Oh girl....I'll have this plastered all over DG when it finally happens. Now....how much longer til it's open? LOL Thanks so much.....this is making my YEAR!!!

Kewl! In about three days, it will be amazing! What you going to put that pollen on? Hehehe, don't pull a Susie or Tracey and pollinate that one, it slowes the plant down. They quit growing as fast with pods, they put all their energy into making babies, instead of more plant and blooms. I have a three foot Pink Pearl to prove it, just couldn't behave myself. Thanks to Susie, I am so bad.........

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Ha....I would need a different bloom to be able to pollinate! LOL This will be my first ever brug bloom to see in person. I don't think I'll be pollinating anything this time. Heck, I wouldn't even know where to start even if I thought I could do it! I better start reading and learning all I can. I noticed that the Eventide that you sent me has Y'd and should be blooming before long. Tracey....thanks so much...these plants you sent are just beautiful, happy and healthy!

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Eventide will knock you socks off in a couple of months, it is a small plant, but it packs a punch! Don't be afraid to trim that one, it has lots of bottom growth, and blooms on very thin branches so it will get stressed if you don't keep it trimmed a little. It blooms very heavily, and requires alittle extra TLC but well worth it! Susie has a picture of it when it is full of blooms.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Brinda,you are close,about 3 days,you will love the smell,it is close to a Rose,but Bruglike.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Brinda, cut the anthers off and freeze them.

My way that works for me, is I let them dry for 2 days, put them in a small square of wax paper folded up into a little envelope, sealed with a resealable making tape. Then wrapped in silver foil, labeled and put in a freezer baggie. Then when I have naother brug I want to pollinate, I just carfefully open up the packets, dip my brush in and close it right back up and back in freezer.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Hey Kell....thanks so much! You're teaching me soooo much...now I'm off to figure out what anthers are! LOL And on my way I am DOING THE HAPPY DANCE.....EVERYWHERE!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Let me post a picture again I stole from a Daver when I first joined. It is great. I referred to it alot until I got the spellings down.

I use a curved Kelley Clamp to get the anthers out without hurting the flower or the stigma. A long pair of tweezers would work also.

I will get the wax paper after church and be ready...hopefully I can do it without hurting the flower! We will see! Thanks so much Kell!

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Maybe that's why it is small. It looks the same today as yesterday, so don't think it is going to get any bigger. I'm sure it will be prettier later. The plant itself is looking very good though. It's putting on lots of new leaves.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

I am watching here Brinda, and getting such a kick out of your excitement! It makes my heart jump and dance. I can feel your excitement through the screen, and Im lovin it. Cant wait to see your baby!!

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Wooooohooo Shelly!! We just got home from church and I had to rush in to see it! It's growing...bigger & bigger by the minute! YES.....I'm finally going to see a bloom! Oh you just can't imagine my excitement! Here it is 6 hours later.... different angle.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

I can Brinda! LOL I was almost that excited when JT sent me a plant with flowers on it. That was the 1st time I had ever smelled one. I havent yet seen or smelled one of my own bloom, but hopefully it wont be long. My EP has quite a few 1 inch buds, that are sure growing fast!

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

This thread is lots of fun!! Your excitement is infectious, Brinda, thanks for making an otherwise dull afternoon so much fun!!!

LOL...You guys should be here!!! I'm running in & out...fixing lunch and helping DH with the pool liner that was torn up a few weeks ago in the hail storm. It's a mess...but I am so happy here....but the anticipation is killing me!

Lucky you, first bloom and it's L'Amour.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

I ran out this morning first thing to look at my L'Amour to see if the bloom had opened any wider, but I think the 46 deg. night that was forecast yesterday must have done the bloom in. It is brown around the edges and is even more closed. The plant itself sure looks good though, so am hopeful that the next blooms will be bigger. Is the bloom on L'Amour supposed to be large and more open?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes Sylvia, it is big, bold and beautiful!

It gets darker as summer progresses.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Oh Kell...that is beautiful!!!

Hey Bambi...thanks so much...I'm so excited I just can't stand it! It looked so good this morning and I'm wanting to sneak home to look at it now! LOL I have to work late today, so I'll be dreaming of it all day!

Brin :)

Bambi...Braden looked at all the pics...but Chase wants to see them too before he lets Braden judge them! LOL I can only imagine what Chase will say!
