don't buy this plant

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Great detective work springsong. I also remembered seeing this photo somewhere but couldn't remember where.

If I was the bidder and didn't know, I myself would appreciate others telling me in time. Its clear the photo was copied and altered. It is allowed to email the bidders as long as you are not offering to sell outside of Ebay, etc. Hopefully, they atleast do some research and see that we are all trying to help expose this fraud.

As far as Ebay goes, I don't think they care as long as the seller is not breaking their rules. My best bet is this seller will make his money and later on change his ID to appear as a different seller, keep his/her name written down so as to remember his/her unethical selling practices. I'll personally take my stand and vow never to bid or buy from this seller regardless of what the auction is.

how do you find the closed auctions?

Marshfield, MO(Zone 6a)

Do an advanced search and you can search for closed items, by seller, etc.

Did anyone e-mail magdalena98310?

I did Sue. Didn't hear anything back.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

As the hybridizer of MM I wrote to him last night and have not heard a word from him. It seems he has written to everyone but me.

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

Theres a link on ebay to report fraud-- they actually do care. They'll investigate it and either force the seller to take it down or take it down.

My fiance watches guitar selling on ebay a lot, and there are tons of fraudulent guitar sales, its insane. He's part of a guitar forum (aren't we dorky with our hobby forums?? hehe ) and they watch out for each other just like here!

Someone should go here, http://pages.ebay.com/securitycenter/

Theres a green button on the right that says "Report a Problem" Hopefully someone will stop that guy.

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Glad you located the source of that photo, it did look familiar and that was bothering me not being able to place it.

The seller is misrepresenting his merchandise as something it is not, which would seem to be fraudulent regardless of the lack of patent.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

On a lighter eBay note, check out this auction. Read all the way down, the guy keeps adding comments as he gets viewer emails.

Who knew eBay had such real life dramas going on everyday? Fraud, theft, divorce, and even marriage proposals.

Good Morning from a night owl in MS! Ya'll will be very glad to learn that the eBay seller in question, planetrj, cancelled his MM auction last night at 23:07 with this explanation from eBay: "The seller ended this listing early because the item was lost or broken." I thank you all for looking out for us newbies and not letting us get fooled, as we easily can!

Good about the canceled transaction on Ebay.

$17,100.00?? Is someone really gonna pay that? LOL! I bet that guys ex is really steamin!

It's good to see the guy finally closed the auction. I really think "magdalena98310" is him bidding on his own stuff. Look at the bidding page of that person (of course the fake MM was on there too before if was closed) .... http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws1/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewBidItems&userid=magdalena98310&completed=1&sort=3&all=1&rows=25

It's odd... out of all the brug auctions on ebay and this newbie only bids on what he sells.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

That was too funny! Thanks Kell.

Good catch about magdalena98310 Sue. I'm glad the auction was closed down.

I checked eBay today and listed there are brugmansia tree seeds. Okay, so is there a seed that can be planted that will grow a single trunked tree?? That doesn't sound right, although, the single trunked tree that I have was listed, at the nursery, as a tree, and the other brugs were listed as Angel Trumpet bushes or shrubs. So, what's the skinny?? SLike

I just heard that this fellow from e-bay was going to be on the Today show this morning!!!

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Today...Wed. April 28th !!!

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

oh well i missed it , did you see it?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh shoot, I missed it! Was he too funny in person? Anyone see him? I see they fixed his auction so the nuts were deleted from bidding.

Whitewater, WI

Whatever he gets, he deserves every penny of it. lol

The entertainment value alone was worth it. :)
