Where's my Stuff??

Newport News, VA(Zone 7a)

On March 23 I recv email
confirming my postage had been
recv for clippings, as of today
still nothing. I sent two
emails asking when I could
expect my clippings, no
reply to my emails.
What is the turnaround
time transactions? I'm
beginning to feel like I've
been ripped off.

deller, I don't know who you're trading with, or what they're sending you. A month might be a long time or maybe not, depending on whether the plants were ready to be divided (or have put out enough new growth for cuttings), and spring weather, which sometimes has a negative impact on our ability to get things done within the timeframe we had planned.

A couple things to ask yourself:

1) When you sent your SASE did you give your DG name along with your real name? (Did you also put this in your e-mails to the trader?)

2) Did you also send a list of the plant(s) they agreed to send?

Traders - especially if they're busy with a lot of trades - might set aside an envelope they can't easily match up to their notes. Giving your DG name and the plants you requested helps expedite things.

None of these things excuses a trader from holding up their end of the bargain, but if there's anything you can do to help get your trade en route, it's in your best interest to do so.

Morning Terry,
I did all of the above.
When I sent the first inquiry
I said things sometimes get
lost so I gave my address and
item to be sent again.
I can understand being busy
with lots of trades, but I
feel I should have gotten a
reply from emails.
I'm waiting for Jasmine clippings.

deller, that's the way of it sometimes. But, there are a great many more excellent traders than those who sometimes cannot follow through for unsuspected reasons like illness or whatever in their lives. I remember the wonderful response you received from the members here when you first joined and asked for "seeds for the needy"!

That is more like the family that is daves! Hope you won't let one bad apple spoil your fun.

deller,
What kind of jasmine was it you were looking for? I can get you confederate jasmine if this is what you are looking for. I promise not to take more than a couple of days to send it to you. That is if all you are looking for are un-rooted cuttings. Wish you luck.

Yes Yes Yes!! Thats what
I'm lookin for. You've
got mail.
The Dave's family has been
absolutely wonderful to
me, maybe thats why I'm
in such shock over the
last experience I had.

I am well aware of
the generous folks at DG.
However I can't understand
you taking the time to
explore my trades and
actually post it....

Deller, John is just reminding you of the love in the garden. This garden family is one of the most unique you will ever find.
I'm one of the slowest people I know......not meaning to, but, life sometimes gets in the way.

Deller,
I can get you all the cuttings you want. I know how frustrating it can be to not get what was promised to you. I sent someone some paw paw trees (a total of 4) about 5 or 6 months ago. They told me that they would send me some various teas, herbs and noni seeds. I got nothing. I paid about $10.00 for shipping my paw paw saplings. Not to mention the time taken in collecting them and packing them. I have given up on getting anything from that person but I have made sure not to trade again with them.

I take a slightly different approach to this type of situation than a lot of people here. We could all sit around and make excuses for people until the sun comes up, but the fact of the matter is that they didn't just not follow through. They haven't even stepped forward to offer an explaination. It's very frustrating but one must keep their head up and move forward. Just make a mental note and hope that they offer some sort of an explaination later (and hopefully your postage/SASE too). If they don't, then you have your mental note to refer back to for future references/trades. I believe you can place comments on your experience with trading with certain people here to let other know what to expect when trading with these people. I could be wrong though.

P.S.
(Yes, everyone here has been great) The person mentioned above was not someone from Dave's Garden.

BugFreak,
Surprise, I got an email
from the person this pm.
They apologized for the delay
and requested my address again.
Wonder if they read the tread??
anyway, if you'll email me
about the jasmine you have
I'd love to get some.
thanks abunch!!
