I have several Gardenia Veitchii that are dropping buds and are not blooming...any ideas?
I'm keeping them plenty moist and the foliage looks very health and has new growth.
Thanks,
Tracey
Gardenia Dropping Buds
look for bugs aphids and thrips can cause this
Are they potted or planted in the ground? If potted, set the pot in a base and put small pebbles in the base and set the pot on top of the pebbles and water that way; adds humidity.
Just don't let it set in the water
Common causes of bud drop include low humidity, overwatering, underwatering, insufficient light and high temperatures (night temperatures between 50 and 55 ° F are necessary for the formation of flower buds).
They are still in pots from the nursery since we are prepping our beds for landscape right now. What an undertaking!
I think I'm overwatering or there needs to be more drainage. I picked up one of the pots this morning while looking for bugs like Springsong suggested and there was a blob of white mold under it, and rolly polly bugs EVERYWHERE.
I'm going to elevate the pots a bit so the water drains out better away from them.
Thanks!
Tracey
