Can anyone help w/ Airlayering Southern Magnolia question.

Surely you cannot expect layering to produce enough roots to support a fully grown tree in a couple of years...

Definitely, in my view a medium-sized branch is the best you could expect, and even then you would be lucky to get something more than a couple of feet in height.

Remember, magnolias are notoriously slow-growing... which means that they grow slowly in the roots.

Gosh with brugmansia, you can root a piece and you can get a whole nice sized tree eventually.

Adding I know brugs and magnolias are MUCH different, but it may be worth a try. If nothing else, Im sure you can find a reasonably priced one somewhere.
