wow 19 hours daylight!!

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

we, in the UK, are rapidly approaching the best time of the year by far. The sun doesn't set until after 2130 and rises around 0330. with twilight and dawn you could take another hour off these times which gives us 19 hours daylight. right now it's 2300 and it's still relatively bright outside and a torch isn't be needed to see around the garden like I just did.

Our days are not quite that long right now. Starts getting light about 5am and is getting dark again by 2100 and definately dark enough for a torch by 2200 hrs. I love this time of year! Even a night owl like myself gets time outside in daylight!

Got relatives in Norway and I envy their summer daylight...on the other hand, don't think I could deal with the opposite in the winter. The west KY winter days are short enough as it is.

This is my favorite time of year too.

Many of my collegues at work are from India and the level of light we have in the Northern Hemsiphere often confuses them. Many have told me that they think its 5pm when its really 7 or 8pm as close to the equator they may have an extra hour of daylight during summer but not twice as much.

Nanaimo, BC(Zone 8b)

I lived in yukon and north west territory. in summer it never really gets dark, but in winter it is light only for 6 to 8 hours tops . a real challange to grow much.

Panama, NY(Zone 5a)

two days from the solstice and we're at our limit - 15 hours, 15 minutes from sunrise to sunset. But the afterglow lingers an hour more and the lightning bugs brighten up the shrubbery.
