My neighbor has decided he doesn't like his tree, and wants to replace them with larger-growing weeping willows.
That's great for me, because he has offered to give me his weeping pussy willow that he doesn't want anymore. :) It's about 6-7 ft tall, growing straight, and has been living in his yard since last fall.
When's the best time to move it? What's the best location? Will almost all sunny be okay? How tall will it get? I checked the database, and it said keep moist - really?
TIA,
-Jennifer
Weeping Pussy Willow...
AngelSong, I would move it right now! My philosophy is that you can move ANYTHING in April! Just dig as big of a rootball as you can and disturb it as little as possible and keep it nice and moist while it re-settles. I bet it will never know the difference -- except the good vibes from a person who appreciates it!
I see them in full sun and part shade here and they do fine in both situations. Willows like water and usually can even take standing water for part of the year.
