One of very first brugs is blooming. I can't believe that I actually grew this & I can't believe how many blooms it has. I bought this one & an Equador Pink at the same time but I can't remember where & I'm not sure if this is Dr. Seuss or Charles Grimaldi? Either way I can't stop taking its picture!
Lost tag but I love it!
What a gorgeous picture! Encore!!!!
No matter what it is......it is beautiful!
I thought the amaryllis was the brug too before I clicked on the picture. Very Pretty!
Wow thanks! Coming from my garden idols, Root & Monika, you made my day!
Sue, I did also! LOL. I love amaryllis! A prolific bloomer really makes it! Yellow is so cheerful too!
How very pretty! Nice combo.
Spotted the Amarylis, right away, as I had the same one bloom. Brug looks like Ch. Grimaldi/Dr. Seuss, whatever..... it is pretty and I can even smell it!!
Fooled me I thought it was a new brug that looked like an amaryllis...LOL
Love the flowers!!!
Beautiful picture kell! How do you keep them blooming for such a long time?
Oh Monika, not the same bulbs! LOL. I buy tons every year for indoor thrills. I put them in the refrigerator to keep the from sprouting. Once done blooming I put out in the garden, and pot up new ones. I have been thinking of hybridizing them. Maybe if we move to a bigger garden!
Here is another in bloom now.
B2B -- beautiful picture! My guess is that since it doesn't have serrated leaves, its probably a Charles Grimaldi... And, I love 'Minerva', your Amaryllis! Thanks for sharing the picture!!!
I love all the pictures of amaryllis. Bambi, I also thought you had a really special brug until I enlarged the picture and saw the amaryllis in front. Cool picture.
that second one is pappion or something like that, french for butterfly?
I've wanted that one for years
Wait a minute, don't put me on a list with Monika,my head will swell so much,I'd never get it out the door!!LOL!!
If brown is beautiful,I have the best looking yard around now!!
LOL...I thought the first picture was of a new "blended" brug...great pictures!
What a beautiful picture.
Kell ... I almost bought that last one in your photo ... probably should have.
Beautiful blooms.
Very pretty blooms. Neat idea Kell.
Kell, in your climate, everything is possible! LOL
I've had my eye on some amaryllis down here. There is a house that has hundreds in their front garden, so beautiful.
Kell and B2B, your flowers are gorgeous!
I generally buy one or two for Christmas bloom and then throw them away. I don't have the patience for growing them another year.
BtoB and Kell, great pictures. Nice combo CG and amaryllis. I love amaryllis and have about 20 bulbs of varying sizes and colors. have a red one that I've had for several years with 3'rd bloom stalk right now. I put them out in the garden after blooming and try to remember to fertilize them all summer. Donna
I buy them at Christmas time and plant them in the garden after they've finished blooming. They seem to like it here... I have some from last year that are getting ready to bloom again.
Love the deep red amarylis Kell.
Snails just will eat them alive! But other than that they are sure great.
I've been using crushed pecan shell mulch, and it really keeps the snails and slugs at bay. Unfortunately, the source has dried up and I'm going to use shredded cedar this year. Have to go pick up the first load (20 cubic YARDS total -- two dump truck loads) on Thursday...ugh!
Gretchen, sounds like you're going to be busy.LOL
Wow, that is a lot of mulch and it isn't light weight. I have a pile of it that I thought would decay away and it hasn't, so I guess this year I'll use it. You say you have to go pick it up? Do you have a dump truck or how are you hauling it? You are going to wear yourself out girl.
Last year, I purchased my pecan shells at the local organic place, and I picked it up by the pickup bed load. I only had to spread 6 yards. Pecan shells are very easy to spread, by the way.
Since I can't get those this year, I'm getting free cedar (juniper - they call it cedar here) from the county extension office. David helped me rig the hay trailor with sides and it should hold 4 yards, so it will be 4 trips. Last night we pretty much decided to get rid of all the grass in our cactus garden, and replace it with mulch and add more natives. That will be another load in and of itself. But, I'm going to get my main beds done first. The only catch is: you can only get it loaded in your trailer on Thursdays... Guess where I'll be tomorrow???
Gretchen, I hope you will be able to get to the computer tonight to let us know you aren't buried under cedar mulch. Bet you will be tired, but everything will look great.
Thanks Shirley -- its tomorrow that I get started... today I'm going to try to mow that parts of the yard that aren't under standing water. We're supposed to get more rain on Saturday! This is so very unusual for us. I'm usually watering every day by this time of year. Then, Friday is housecleaning day. It probably won't get done this week LOL!
Gretchen, I knew that........geez, I have had this week mixed up all week for some reason.
Beautiful pixes.. I keep mine outside in the clay pots.. They bloomed during winter time.. Right now they are shooting new green thick leaves whatever you call it. lol
And they are still beautiful. Great pictures.
Beautiful photos B2B ... keep them coming!
Great pictures, B2B.
Just so pretty!
