My guess would be that you have a worm that may be coming out of the soil at night to munch. Hope I'm wrong. They are hard to catch.

Mesilla Park, NM

Also, some roly poly's have been muching on some of my stuff. I did not know they could do so much damage.

will nem oil kill it if it is in the dirt?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I've never used neem, so I can't say. Maybe Gourd knows. I didn't know roly poly's would do much damage either. Normally I will use a BT product for worms. Something like Knock out Gnats or Gnatrol works in the soil for larvae. There used to be a product called BT that you mix with water and spray foliage. I don't know if it is still available, but I'm going to do a search and will come back if I find anything.

BT is marketed under the names of Dipel and Thuricide. Possibly other names as well.

Check up under the pots and under the rims and stuff too. They hunt by the light of the moon the little boogers! :P

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

Put a strand of copper wire around your pot rim, a snail or slug cannot cross over because the copper causes some kind of chemical reaction with their slime & they don't like it.
I do this around the trunks of my brugs & abutilons too.
I also discovered that some ammonia water in a spray bottle works better then salt. I go out at night and just spray the little buggers & if a bit of spray gets on my plants, it does not harm it.
Hope that helps,
Donna
