This is Versicolor Orange. It is a great bloomer and has a wonderful fragrance. Everyone should try this one at least once.

Shirley, do you think one more bloom could have fit on that plant?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sylvia, you should have been here to smell it. Absolutely the best fragrance of them all, but Butterfly is very close even tho the fragrance is much different.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

you really get a lot of bang for such small pots!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Kell, it is the angle of the shot. The pot is probably 7 or 8 gallon size. That plant just always blooms well.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

It was a good bloomer for you Shirley?
I've had Versi-peach cutting since last June, which never bloomed, sure hope I get to see and smell some blooms this year. It's now only about 3 1/2', is it a slow grower, or is it just me? Does anyone know if the scent is the same or similar?

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

I have always loved this photo. So pretty!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Well shut mah pie-hole! Beautious!

Steel Datura sneaks in as a newbie so she can say....all over again......"WOW, Brugie It's beautiful!!!!"

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I'm with Shoeman! Let us rookies know what you feed one,to get it to look this great!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Hey you all, this was a picture from about three summers ago and that was back before I really knew much about brugs. It got Peters fertilizer a couple of times a week and double strength once every two weeks. Now, I'm not as good about fertilizing as I was back then. LOL!! I've found that the Versi. Orange doesn't get as tall as the Versi. Peach and it does smell much stronger than the Peach. Thanks for all the nice comments.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Dang....I'm on pins and needles just waiting to see and smell my first brug bloom this year and you keep fueling the fire, Shirley!!! LOL That is a beautiful brug.

Brinda :)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks Brinda. You will absolutely love the fragrance in the evening and next year your brug count will go up, up, up!! It seems to be something we can't get away from.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

I remember that year, Brugie. It was also the year that another of your pics, "Dr Seuss" was selected as a winner in the very first (or was it the second?) DG pic contest (I was a judge back then). That years' contest showed your Seuss with a beautiful base of some type of greenery plant with purple flowers, then a nice topiary trunk, topped off with a rounded brug full of orange pendulous flowers that would attract the attention of all those passing by! I'm sure that pic brought others to the Brug World.

Shown here (before pics had copyrights on them) (all copyright goes to Brugie):

Thanks Shoe. You have a good memory. I remember being totally shocked at winning, especially since I was fairly new to Daves Garden. It seems so long ago. LOL!!

New member says THANK YOU and WOWZER! Eye candy!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Well, thank you!! I consider it quite a compliment when people enjoy my pictures and exciting to have Shoe here in the forum too.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

Great pictures, Brugie. I hope mine bloom good this year.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Shirley, I remember this beautiful picture and I thought it definitely was a winner. V. Orange does have a wonderful fragrance . . one of the best. Mine got over-watered and is no longer with me. I have since learned that less care is better sometimes. . . especially when it comes to water. There are definitely those that need less.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

(Thank you Brugie...). I'll be peekin' in tryin' to unnerstand ya'll!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Keep peekin Shoe,we will hook you!

PURTY!... Is that your house, Doc?

Mighty nice entrance. Luv it!

The Heart of Texas, TX(Zone 8b)

Hey thanks this newbie really appreciates pics of what one of my new babies should look like when it blooms. Most of the ones I already had were unnamed varieties from years ago.
Thanks to some of the nice Brugs folks who shared cuttings with me, I now have several new named ones. Now I just have to find room for all of them.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Brugie, great photo- that is one brug I have never grown. It loves what ever you are doing--

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

Oh Shirley, I am so ready to see this girl in action again. This is one of my favorite brugs! I absolutely adore Versi-orange! This summer is going to be great! Blooms everywhere, new babies to watch, it is going to be one to remember!

Washington, PA(Zone 6b)

Wow! You guys have awesome plants!
I hope I get at least one to flower this year...

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Shirley, I remember too, when you won the first contest. Golly, Shoe, has it been that long ago? Seems like just the other day. Man, time flies!

Spokane, WA(Zone 5b)

WOW! That is pretty!

Now I have a question about these Brugs. How tall do they usually get?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Karrie, many things enter into how tall they get. Zone, amount of sun, fertilizer, variety, etc. In my zone, some are like this one and some will get 6 or 7 ft. with an ocassional really tall one. If one gets too tall for what you want, you take cuttings from above the main Y for the next year's plant and it should be shorter. Taller brugs will grow from cuttings from below the Y or from seed.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Root: I just love your tropical paradise! I can't believe how big they get there!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I saw a picture or two that Shoe posted someplace and he has a pretty good start on them. They looked good. I'm waiting for him to post pictures of his first tomato. What I wouldn't give for a good tomato right now.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

WOW Shirley! Just gorgeous!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes'm, Roz...that long ago. I reckon time flies when we're having fun, eh?

Now as for that first mater, Brugie!...I'm hankerin' for a good one right now, too! When they start coming in I'll FedEx ya some.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Wish I could hold you to that. LOL!! I've just started my seeds, hoping they won't get too leggy before I can get them out. Problem is....the space in the greenhouse is very limited due to brug cuttings and seedlings. I hate to have to go to the nursery to by tomato plants when I have seeds for about 50 kinds right here.

Pocahontas, TN(Zone 7b)

bumping this thread, great pictures of some oldies!!!

Tulsa, OK(Zone 7a)

Shirley beautiful.. Root you even moved them sure are great..

Columbia, SC(Zone 8a)

WOW, that really was a beauty. There are some great photos in the archives.

Hooks, TX

OMG!!! Now, I have another one on my want list! And I don't know just where to start looking.

I'm still anxious to see and smell my first bloom. And thanks to
all the DGers who have helped me along this road. I have a few plants now that are large enough to bloom, I think. I look every morning to see if I can find a bud, but so far, no bud!

Thanks for the beautiful pictures - they help until the real thing comes along -
