Kyle took this picture of my plant two years ago. I sent it home with him for safe keeping when I had a rot problem going on in my garden. No, not SB, but I believe it was the wet soaker hose against the trunks of four or five of my brugs. Once removed, everything grew just fine. Anyway, I always loved the color of L'Amour and can't wait to get one to bloom for me.
It has been brought to my attention that I posted Monika's picture instead of Kyle's. His picture is posted at the bottom of the thread. Sure am glad Monika is a good friend. LOL!!

L'Amour
Oh my....to die for! Such a beauty!!! I just love the look of a low calyx.
Yep, this one is definitely on my "wish list"...
She is definitely a beauty Shirley. I'm sure glad that Kyle saved her.
Ahhhh,
......... My type of flower shape. Sheesh ! Ya got me thinking of culling some plants already and I'm just into my first Brug-Year. My, how fickle we can be ;-P
Somebody, please come pick me up off the floor. Gorgeous!
That is ONE beautiful flower. I could easily cull a lot of my brugs for more of that kind.
This should be a fantastic year for beautiful new brugs.
Oh Shirley, I'm drooling! Very nice pic, thanks for sharing!
Brin :)
Shirley, you gave me cuttings last fall of everything on the top of my wish list, now you're loading up my wish list again! I keep telling myself that I have enough - my DH NEVER STOPS telling me that I have enough, and here I am, wishing away again! Thank you again for the cuttings, they are all well rooted now, and as anxious to go outside as I am!
Ronna, I hope they do well for you. When are you able to put things outside? I hate playing this waiting game. I have brugs large enough to handle being outside, but I sure need the warmth first.
It's warm enough right now to put things outside, but we're expecting lows in the 30's in a couple of days, so I won't put anything out yet. That's the bad thing about our weather, several beautiful days, then another cold snap. I know that so many of you would KILL for a few days in the 70's, but I wish that the lows would stay above 40 for more than a few days at a time. I usually put everything outside by the middle of April, but it's different every year. Sometimes we warm up early, sometimes winter just won't go completely away. It keeps sneaking back for a day or two at a time.
Oh my goodness! *drooling* :-)~~~
Oh, that is so pretty, Shirley. Someday I'm going to have one.
No doubt about it . . . a real beauty.
Just beautiful! Is this considered a red?
Bonnie
Its a true beauty Shirley.
No, it isn't a true red, but still a pretty color. I'd love to see a picture of a L'Amour tree or bush in full bloom. Anyone have one of those they could start another thread with so it won't get lost??????
Definitely at the top of my wish list.
WOW!!!
Sandy
HOLYCOW! I pray I get a red like that soon. There aren't enough red varieties of many kinds of flowers.
I did find a sale on many canna's that I hadn't seen before, I bought 1 of each that even had a touch of red to it!LOL I need some red.
Jeff
I was just in the GH and....
L'amour...is dead.....sniff...snivel.........
gunna dig it up and see if there's any chance of it coming back from the roots.....
soooo sad.......
Oh no.....that is sad. Maybe mine will grow up to be big enough to try some cuttings by fall.
Wow Shirley you have had L'Amour for 2 years. Is quarentine why they are just getting around?? So beautiful.
A real beauty this one!
Donna, it has been here a while. I got it from a friend. I don't have it now. It croaked the winter the picture was taken. This one seems to be a bit tougher to grow.
It really resents cold temps.... Ada Keep you fingers crossed that the temps go up above 40 and stay that way for a few days, I will watch the weather tonight, It has been cold here all day, temps in the 40's for highs, 20's tonight.
Tracey, we're having a cold snap the next two days and then the temps will get back to normal the rest of the week.
Mine sure hated the cold temps when we moved, it died back to the pot, but is growing like crazy now.
CC, I sure hate to hear that yours might be dead. We will cross our fingers for it.
This one is amazing. I hope to grow it in my garden one day.
My L'amour should bloom this week, also Rosamond. If I could only have 2 brugs, these would be them.
Arrggghhhh, and I have neither. They are both beautiful!
L'Amour roots are almost as sensitive as RKs.
Then I should be so happy and am so lucky both mine survived the hoophouse this winter. I will be moving them out soon!
Hi Larry, where have you been hiding? I guess you wait until you have something IMPORTANT to say. Will you show us pictures? I'm happy that I have 1 Dr Seuss and 1 Frosty Pink bud that will open this week.
Linda,
Been busy all winter. I have taken most of my brugs out of the gh and wouldn't you just know we are to get freezing temps tonight. Rather than taking them back in, I will lay them over and cover them. I have Whiskers, Shredded white, Gypsy queen, Rosamond, Dr. S, and a few others blooming now. Larry
I dug it up and the roots look alive...its just the plant that looks dead....LOL
why am I laughing?????
I don't feel so bad seeing as others have lost it too.I repotted it in a small pot and will see if anything comes from it...
If not, heck,at least it bloomed last summer and I used the pollen
I'm sorry to hear that you are going to have bad weather. Our weather is finally turning spring like, but that doesn't mean we won't have more freezing weather, in fact, I expect it more than once yet. Wish I had those brugs blooming here. I'd feel like I was in heaven. I hope they get through the freezing temps okay for you.
Larry, I did that with some this winter and it it worked great. GOOD LUCK!! I will be thinking WARM for you!
CC!!! Just do not over water now! It is very sensitive to overwatering I have noticed!!! Susie's came back from a freeze so yours shall also!!
I do not think anything will freeze. It want stay that cold for long. I mostly want to keep frost off of them. I planted several beds of nanas and EEs over the weekend. I may just get up before daylight and turn sprinklers on them to keep the frost off.
Gosh, you are really getting your planting done. It will be at least 5 weeks before I put anything out here. My ears are going to love getting outside and my bananas are trying to grow in the shop. Good Luck and remember, we love pictures here.
