I know I must have known what this was at one time, don't remember it blooming last year.....the Monkey Flower had engulfed it and when untangled from that powerful web it took off and did this.

Beautiful plants! What is that EE in your first pic? It's a beauty..

Gorgeous pics as usual! The first one looks like a black stem? The second sure is a nice bright yellow! The leaves remind me of a Geranium or strawberry/potentilla? Some sort of water poppy or something?

I have noticed a various iris and rushes sending up greenery in the pond but that is about it. The fish have been out a week or so. They were out every day when we got up in the 50-70s and have become shy now that is has cooled off again. Hurry up spring! LOL

That's Colocasia esculenta 'Fontanesii', Violet-Stemmed Taro, Black Taro.

I almost took a nose-dive standing on the edge of the pond to take another picture of the unknown yellow flowered plant. (Note to self.....save the camera!!) It sends out long stems that open up with leaves and the yellow flowers. The leaves are 8-12" across. I think the metal tag was also devoured by the Mimulus guttatus and I sure don't remember this blooming last year.

Happenstance always has the best pics...
Thanks to both of you...are either one up for a small trade?
I'd love to have a small one of those black stemmed Taros.
Is the Yellow flower a floater or does it have to be planted?
I have some odds & ends of things that might be suitable for a trade.
Well thanks enjoyed the pics.

Hi Barbi -

Nope it's not Moneywort. I have that and it has fingernail size leaves, but it does have a nice yellow flower also. :-)

These leaves are huge and the flowers are probably 3-4" in diameter.

MsCritterkeeper - It is planted in a submerged pot, but looks like it might just go and grow where ever it can reach to.

I posted the images on the ID Forum and got an answer from eje. Nice to know what it is.
