Ooooooh - another thing I just learned from that google search is that the Intrigue seeds germinate easily! :)
Before I ask My questions about Brugs.....
Yep. That's it. I'll put you down for some seeds. I've always thrown them into the compost pile... :-(
Is Cypress, TX anywhere near Artesia Wells, or Cotulla? My grandparents were from there, and for some reason, "Cypress" sounds very familiar to me.
Actually its 5 hours 51 mins from here. Its south west of San Antonio, Texas. I'm in a subburb of Houston.
lol! ok, I must have been thinking of something else. I also have friends in Conroe.
Liz, you make me proud to be a woman!!
Karrie,I wish the best for you!!
Bonnie
Now Conroe is very close to where I live, about an hours drive from here.
I've been to Spokane, Tri Cities (Pasco, Richland and Yakima (?) ) and Mount Rainier when I was a teen ager. We went up north every summer to pick apples and clean sugar beat fields. My Dad was lazy on top of being a tirant. He made us work every summer along side illegal aliens so he wouldn't have work. We made $2.15 an hour, but there was 5 of us working for him, so he made a pretty penny. He gave us $10.00 a week so we could buy our school clothes and shoes since my mother was able to muster up the courage to keep us in school. GRRR. Aside from the 6 day work week of 12 hour days, it was beautiful country to experience. Wish we had had the oportunity to enjoy the pretty sights. One day he did take us up to Mount Rainier, complained the whole day even though we kids put gas in the car. It was a beautiful sight "Snow in July"! One day I'll make a trip back to visit what I couldn't when I was a teen ager. LOL
Oh Dear! That sounds awful!
Tri Cities consists of Richland, Pasco & Kennewick - but you were close! Yakima is about 1 1/2 hours from there. I grew up in Walla Walla, which is about 45 minutes from Tri Cities.
Maybe one of these days you'll be able to make the trip up here and get a chance to see the beautiful sights - at leisure, of course.
Yep it was awful. But what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. It is Kennewick! I forgot. Its been so long ago, 20 years at least. I remember Walla Walla also. Maybe one day..I can make the trip. I want to go to Hawaii and Australia also. LOL!
Yep! The South, Australia & Hawaii all sound good to me!

The South! Hey come on down when ever you need to get a way. I have lots of room especially for guest. Don't have a husband just two wonderful cats. Just let me know ahead of time so I can take some time off of work. We can go plant shopping and trading with some of my plant freinds!
Karrie20X, I can certainly empathize with you. My husband was after the first 10 years a verbally abusive alcoholic. We had three children. I left a couple of times but allowed myself to be coerced into returning. He died just short of our 50th wedding an. I''m still not sure if I did the right things, but our three kids have turned out beautifully and I am very proud of them. But it was a very difficult time for me. If it had been in this day and age I probably would have left. I can't really give you any advice, as you know you will have to decide for yourself. I wish you good decisions. Donna
Well, Flowerjunkie, if I ever get down there again, I will definitely let you know! Once in awhile when hubby travels on business he takes me with him. If he ever goes to the Houston area, I'll stow away on the plane. Business has been real slow lately, though, so traveling isn't really an option right now.
Karrie20x,
Sounds like a plan....
This should have been on the Tropicals Forum, but since I thought they were Brugs' because I mixed up the markers when I seeded them, I wanted to follow up with those that had seen this thread. Although they aren't brugs, I still find them very handsome! So here's the update on those Cannas' that wanted to be Brugs........ Boy they are making nice house plants. The leaves are so nice. My oldest daughter asked why I "had" to put them outside when it warms up. (can I keep one inside for her and will it live?) Here is what the four Reds look like now.
