Isn't this beautiful!!
This poem, by our own dear 'Shoe, was accepted to be published in an Anthologhy Book, put out by the International Library of Poets!! He's one cool dude! Jo
Barefoot Butterfly....By: Horseshoe
WOW! Thanks for sharing that! :)
That's cool, Shoe! :)
Well done Shoe! Good to see the tongue is still firmly in cheek as usual - and the off the wall thinking is alive and well ;D
Written from personal knowledge apparently! Very Good!! Lou
Shoeless, good lookin' and talented too - what is DG going to do with you Shoe?
Shoes da man! Shoe I am sure this is just the first of many of your works to be published. Now what I want to know is just when you are going to start selling them on that store you keep putting off? (HUH?)
Shoe, that is a great piece you wrote there! I just LOVE to read anything you write. I also love to hear your stories and wish I could purchase something in that "store" of yourn's.
You tell him Peggy!
Donna
way to go Shoe! Such a words of wisdom!
Sheesh, Folks!.... I really wish I was more organized and able to follow thru with a milllion things I wanna do! I'm so sorry! (Yep, I'm the "sorry sort of guy".)
However!, I'm getting close to being able to appease you folks (and in the process, myself also). I'm really working on finishing and fine-tuning stories for printing (and recording) and this means cutting back on some of my gardening/growing. I can handle it tho. You'll see!
This poem (pronounced "poim" by me, or is it spelt "poeemm"?) was submitted to a poetry contest. Out of "thousands of entries" they picked 200 to be printed in a book. I reckon I just lucked out. (And no, they ain't paying me for it! But it flatters me right good(!) and now I can say I've been published!) :>)
Thanks for all ya'lls comments, I luvs 'em!
As for that 'store' Mystic (and others)...I started working on one of Dave's Scif stores last year (by the way, which is something anyone who is considering a store should check out. It's FREE! Unlimited web space as well as consultation!). I was going to offer my seeds and plants but realized I really can't offer anything that is not already available at other webstores. What with me being a one man operation that would require lots and lots of work. So...
I really hoped to offer my stories, CD's, and perhaps some misc stuff to the public, so will have to revamp I guess, and start over? I dunno...I just don't know. AND!....(if ya'll care to input)...
I'm wondering if I should open a store and only offer a few items, it might not be enuff to encourage people to come back ("eh, there ain't nuthin' there, let's git outta here!").
So...am wondering whether to open up to the public with a skeleton offering or wait till I have a full closet.
Thinking thinking thinking.
Again. Many many thanks!

Shoe, I love you poem. keep em coming.
Shoe I am wondering what you might just have in that beautiful closet of a mind you have? I mean that some closets have great things and others have funny things and a few don't have much in there but I am sure you are one of the first ones if not both mixed up into one closet along with some really fine things that others would never think of having in "their" closet.
I love your poem poim pooeeemmmm? I have been barefoot myself in a chicken pen. Whoooeyy it takes a while to get that smell out of your hide doesn't it? lol
Get some things into that closet and we will take care of your advertising for you since you have sooooo many fans here at DG.
The skeletons in his closet are barefoot, too.
hmmmm come to think of it my skeletons in my closet are barefoot. I wonder if we are related?
Scary thought.
I call it "pome"....but what every you call it is is a real work of art. Open the store even if you only have one POME and a CD!! (which I know you do!) Love ya....Jo
Gotta get my 2 cents in here also. All I can say is that I am proud to call him a friend of mine even though we haven't met in person. That will be corrected soon when he comes down here within the next month. He's nuts but it takes one to know one. Shoe, I envy you all your friends and also pleased for you.
The one the only....multi-talented Shoe! :~)
Sparks, all these DG friends are also yours. Trust me, that's how it works! You couldn't get away from 'em if you wanted to, and I seriously doubt you'd ever want to!
(Folks, I might get to meet Sparks in person soon, maybe this week. Maybe he'll autograph the book he's in...if not willingly then I'll hafta, hafta, hafta...uhhhh, ask him again?)
lizh...I might be up your way in a month or so. I'll bring some blue soda, okay!?
Pondy! Will take me awhile to encourage my pick-em-up to get to your fishing hole, but don't give up! And GW!!! You been peeking in my closet!!?
Shirley...you can be the MC (emmcee) at the Roundup! (But that means you'll need a good story to tell beforehand!) Nyah nyah!!
As for you, Ms JO....I'm working on it, working on it! (Am slowing down outside, trying to work more inside. That CD will happen.) (Eventually.)
Actually, Shoe, that is worth framing - or set in stone for a garden even! (hint hint - I'd buy it!)

I love the set in stone idea and I would buy it also.
Great little poem!
DG folks are some of the most clever and creative people I know! Shoe definitely proves that fact! I think that Karrie's idea of chiseling poems on stones could be a whole new venture for you! I'd be interested as well.
As for being the MC at the R.U., I'm not good at telling stories or tall tales. But I heard that you do an excellent job of that, so I'll let YOU take center stage! :~)
Shoe,
I enjoy poetry very much. It doesn't have to be long. I think you should open your store with what you have if that is what you want to do. Go for it.
Hah...welp, I don't know nuttin' about stone-cutting/engraving, Karrie and Ellen! Wish I did! (Heck, I can't even use a router to make nice neat signs in wood!) Wish I could!
(When I was dealing with copyright rules and regs though I found out others could easily use my stuff by simply agreeing to send them a signed 'permission' paper. So...Karrie? Ellen? Ya'll wanna take up stone cutting?)
Shirley....I think if TC is coming to that roundup there should be plenty of entertainment! Between all of us it's gonna be a madhouse anyway! (Still hoping I can come!)
Honibee, thanks for the words of encouragement. I'm working on things; a long row to hoe before I can get to where I need to be in certain areas, publishing is one of them.
lol! I don't know anything about engraving either, but I'll betcha 10 to 1 there's an engraver near you that you could make some type of agreement with and get them on the market! :)
I think there is some kind of new engraving lazer tool that is being use to write on stone. Shoe, you should be able to find lots of stones in them thar hills. All you have to do is learn how to write on them. I was just thinking of writing on stone and thought of the Ten Commandments. God was doing that long before we ever thought of it, huh? The cave dwellers did a good job of it too. LOL!
Silly thoughts run through my head sometimes. Ha!
Amazing what can be done with the etching. Check this out: http://www.salt-lake-services.com/Salt_Lake_City_Services/Etching_Salt_Lake_City/Stone_Etching.html
Oh my gardenwife - let's not spook him! :)
I like it Shoe..let's hear some more :)
Speaking of the ten commandments and all the restricitions of showing them in public places, why not rename them rules to live by and post them in every government building, in every school room and in every home. I am not a believer but respect every religon that promotoes good moral values. I feel that those so apposed to religious beliefs are really against moral values.
Good point, Sparks...moral values are definitely a big part of a spiritual/religious lifestyle.
Ladibug, thanks. Should I do more I'll holler. (I can holler right loud sometimes, too!)
.
Shoe, holler in my directioin when you do it please.

I've seen athiests with much better morals and values than alot of Christians. It's very sad! You can call yourself a Christian all you want, but when you go around judging other people, putting other people down, calling yourself a Christian, it makes the whole organization look sadly sick.
I think we are walking on quicksand if we start to discuss religion in this thread, my friends. I seem to remember that is one topic that is taboo here at DG! Right?
Right! And this thread is about Shoe's nice Pome!! Jo
Very true, Ellen. Thanks! ('Twas just a quick comment on my part, not to be confused with a "commentary", and certainly wasn't meant to be a "given" as to 'how people are'. Trust me, I know better!)
Now as for you Ms Roadrunner, glad to see you've learnt how to properly pronounce poem! Yee-haw! (Your accent is getting better! I'll work with ya next we meet!) (I still will pronounce it poim, as in Boing! And DD will still laff and correct me on it!) :>)
So, poem is now Po Me? Is someone asking for pity here??????? Just kididng.
(See, I can't spell either. I don't think I will hit Preview now cause it might tell me to correct my spelling. LOL)
Hehehe..."beware of chell speckers". Er, uhh...I mean "spell checkers". sheesh...it's me mind ya know! :>)
Your mind huh? Yeah, we KNOW, Shoe.
To quote you if I may, "Ya'll ain't right!"
Sorry folks, I posted without really thinking about it. It had been on my mind lately but I did not mean to offend and this was not the place to post it. I do not want to distract attention away from our poet laureate.
