'Blue on Gold" morning glory reward offered

Rose Hill, NC(Zone 8a)

Monterey Bay Nursery, Inc. of Cal. carried Ipomoea Indica
'Blue Dawn Flower' var. 'Blue on Gold' until 2002
I want to find a cutting of this for my breeding program
this summer. Here is the info. that was under the pic.

There is a handsomely variegated clone called "Blue on Gold", the same in all respects as the reg. Blue Dawn Flower (except perhaps less vigorous) but with leaves of yellow-green or glod and some random splotches of various darker greens in their center, and stems plum=purple as well as a delcate outline of the same color on the leaf.

I will go deep into my very private stash as a reward on this one :-)

Hi Roselaine,
I am sorry, I should have explained better. Larry sent me some seeds for another Ipomea variety that I sent him cuttings of. I just meant that he is very generous and if you should happen to have that plant, he would reward you well..

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Yes Larry is a wonderful trader! always so generous with the things he collects and loves to share, but look out when he wants something, he must have it!!!! And I sure with I had it, I would gladly send him the whole thing!!!

Good luck Larry, will still keep my eyes peeled for that for ya!

Im still looking

I've done lots of surfing and can't find any references to this variety. Monterey Bay Nursery is a wholesale only supplier, but getting in touch with them is probably the best option.

If they have a plant patent on this variety, they might have licensed the propagation rights to someone else. Or they may be willing to give you the names of retailers who purchased this plant.

If none of them have propagated it, you might even be able to place an ad in the newspaper of a city where it was sold to try to locate a cutting from a private owner.

I did find a link that may be of interest regarding the use of indica as a breeding specimen.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

California, MD(Zone 7a)

I think the reason it is not real hardy here is because it is a Hawaiian plant. Tropical.

You may want to check these tropical seed sources.

Your plant may not be available at Monteray Bay Nurseries, now, because it is an invasive plant, especially by California standards and some invasive plants have laws against them in some vicinities.

Has anyone seen or heard from Larry since February? I sent him a bunch of Ipomoea indica rooted vines, and I have not heard from him since or seen him around the forums. I was supposed to remind him to send me something, but I no longer have his email.

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi Clare,
I was getting worried about him too, I had not heard from him about some rooted indica I sent him, but then I heard from a mutual friend that he was ok, just busy. So I guess all is well.

Thanks, PudgyMudpies!

Monterey, I don't understand. Does he work there? I wouldn't want to call him. I'll just wait until he posts again.
