i bought some leland cypress tress about 2 to 3 ft tall for $1 each. they are in 3" pots and need to be repotted. the roots are extremely root bound. how would you do this.
1. just go ahead and put as in in the 1 gal pots
2. try to separate the roots some before repotting
3. soak the roots first so as to separate the more easily.
repotting question
I don't know about Leyland cypress, but with azaleas, you slice the root mass vertically in four evenly spaced locations. Apparently, this stimulates new root growth.
I think you should try to separate the roots. One way to do that is to gently work the roots out with your fingers.
payl thats what dh did for me. they are now all repotted. thanks
