I was given a couple wisteria seeds and have more on the way any advice on how to grow these?
Wisteria seeds
You might want to nick or file the seed coat a bit.
Soak seeds over night.
Plant 1" deep in seed starting medium. Keep them warm, and wait.
I've heard it is best not to plant them with the flat side up, as this can encourage rot.
I started a Chinese Wisteria bean this winter. Didn't file. It took about a month to sprout.
TxFlower,
You will wait a long time for wisteria bloom from seed (3 yrs?) Verrry finicky. I discard my seed pods ..prefer immediate gratification! I'll send you cuttings if you like immediate gratification :)Wisteria is more beautiful if you punish it..root pruning and lots of dicipline.otherwise she is lazy and will spread but with few blooms. We have a mutual respect for one another..she is the first to bloom and spectacular..such a treasure. She is also very strong and if left alone is capable of lifting a roof off. I enjoy as a speciman plant..away from the house and trained as a standard.
I have acess to cuttings and tried from cuttings i did in fall but no luck yet.
