My first blooms ever!

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

I have had this brug for about 9 years and it has never bloomed for me - all I did was water it without ever knowing its potential. I just went outside and looked at my brugs....lookie what I found!...OOOOOH WEEEEEE!...I have never seen a bloom in person soooo I am so excited! Checked my others and they have little buds on them too....

This bud is a direct result of the great info posted here by the great advice givers and helpers here on DG Brug forum. A big THANKS goes out to you. Without all the info posted here (and my application) I know, without a doubt, I would not be seeing this little bloom.

Pam

Bless your heart, five years with no blooms! You deserve to have spectacular blooms.
Congratulations!

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

I confess, I made a boo-boo...I accidentally pulled this little guy off when I was looking today. Since I have never seen a bloom before and unfamiliar, I simply thought this bloom was a dud...why you ask? Well, when I saw it I was in shock! Then when I touched it, it felt like paper and empty inside - then I tugged on it and it gave way. Well, I am sick over it now because I know he was definately not a dud. You see, what I did not know is that the flower part was up high inside....

I opened it up and this is what it looked like inside....

Golly, Moonlighting, it's wonderful that your brugs are blooming in late January. I live San Antonio and we have already had 17 nights below freezing. You wouldn't think there would be that much difference in our weather. I'm jealous.

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Minnigrannie - LOL, I'm jealous of your cooler weather in the summer...

You touched it and it fell off? So what happens if the wind blows it? When I put mine outside, do I need to find a real "quiet" place for it?

It certainly looks versicolor to me and the only one I know of that gets that dark is Versicolor Peach and it has a strong smell.
