WEATHER ALERT

camp verde, AZ(Zone 8a)

I seen a message from the accu weather that says that a majority of the us could see the coldest temps that we have seen in the past 25 years. Hope their wrong but if you look up the noaa.gov website and go to climate prediction and click on products their 14 day forcast shows much of the US below norm for temps except Florida.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

lol come on up to mich you want to feel COLD-our highs are barely reaching 20s and then theres that thing called wind chill, we were -15 this morning and the wind is howling and the snow is blowing!!! Been this way for weeks and no end in sight yet!!! :)BUT my daylily seedlings are growing fine in the nice WARM but drafty farm house!!!

All is GOOD!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

What a perspective you have, dori!

It's been cold as cubes here in NC recently but hey, it's January!

David, I'm a weather watcher, too! I've recorded the local high and low temps for right many years. Love it! Just need to keep ahead of things (fire wood stocked up, propane tanks filled, put shoes on when ice has been on the ground a couple days, etc).

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

We have -3 tonight, with windchill of -30...sure wish we had some snow cover!!!!!!!!!

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Shoe, you own a pair of shoes? I was thinking how Alexandra was so lucky because she didn't have to pick up your boots everytime she walks in a room LOL. :)

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'm with Marcia, my only wish was that we had a better snow cover for my new fall planted lawn and all my new landscaping plants I planted last year. We do have snow, but it all blew into places that aren't helping my plants any. I need to take note of that and find a way to fix it for next year by planting shrubs or whatever to catch the snow where I want/need it to stay.

We have had a brief reprieve from the bitter cold and it's been in the 20's/30's for a few days, but today it ended. We had light snow, winds, and lower temps.

Starting tomorrow they say it's going to get bitter cold again. Ugg!

P.S. I wish my 15 year old son would actually "wear" the $200 winter coat I bought him. He thinks it's good enough to have it behind the seat of his pickup. :(

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

Guess what-NO school today we are drifted in!! The winds were somethng all nite long and with the extra snowfall-another day with the boyz-plez God NO stitches! lol

Shoe I know spring will come-I just tell myself this to will pass! ;)

Marcia and Joan that was my winter last year-NO snow and bitter temps for long periods-that was very hard on my garden. I hope you get sno soon-I could wish mine your way.

Lisa and I have to becareful what we wish-I wished for no rain no snow and the water levels in the past 3 yrs are down like 4ft/Lisa prayed for rain and the girl gets a FLOOD! So becareful what ya wish for.

BUT IM WISHING FOR AN EARLY SPRING! lol ;)

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I'm so glad you excluded Fla from that. It's 57 right now and I'm perfectly happy with that as a low.

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

Mistymeadows I think Horseshoe is refering to those flip flops he was talking about in another thread.

Kylertown, PA(Zone 5b)

*Sherry banging her forehead on the desk*

L.A. (Canoga Park), CA(Zone 10a)

Well, as usual, I could use some rain, and you should hope I get some, too. When the jet stream changes enough for me to get a decent rain storm, it also stops bringing in so much arctic air to the midwest and east. :-)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Inda, please don't hurt yourself. Draven...I had no idea he even owned flip flops. :)

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

I'll have you know I own TWO flip flops now-a-days! (One for each foot!)

Inda, flipflops are also good for use on people's desktops. Great padding!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Actually, Shoe has some interesting footwear sometimes...http://davesgarden.com/t/28752/

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Flip flops also make great fly swatters :) I am impressed though, two of them....

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Yep, and they even match! (I just hope they make it thru the winter!)

Looks like we're gearing up for more ice and such this weekend...even talking about it accumulating on the trees and power lines. Time to gear up for more power outtages I reckon. (and find those dang flipflops somewhere!)

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Well, Shoe, if all else fails, duct tape and cardboard work in a pinch. I heard we are going to have some snow and cold next weekend. We have not lost our power this season, (knock on wood) and it has been rather cozy being in with the frigid cold outside. The furnace is working real good and overtime. :) K

Kylertown, PA(Zone 5b)

My husband left ten minutes ago for a business trip to Guadalajara, Mexico where it's supposed to be 75*. Traitor.

I told him to take a pair of shorts along, put them on, and go out in the parking lot of the hotel and just stand there. Then I want him to call me and tell me how it feels to wear shorts outside in January.

We are supposed to get another snowstorm in PA tonight. :-(

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Its been below -0 here on and off for weeks........Lake effect snow...-20 wind chill

Com'on over and play in the snow....

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

CRAZY

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

You tell that hubby of yours to enjoy the Mexican climate while he can, IndaShade!

It's 9F out right now, and there's lots more snow coming to Ohio (well, you know that, because it's coming your way, too!). If things hold true to the forecast, we'll top it off with freezing rain.

Here's our radar as of 9:30am. We're the red spot below the B in Columbus.

I went out in the GH earlier at 10:10am,bright sunshine,it was 69 in there.....
Its -13 outside

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

It's that warm in the GH and you actually left??? I'd be pruning, rooting and starting every seed I can find! LOL

Hey Sherry, maybe DH will get a sunburn on his legs and you can get the last laugh. ;)

We sure have some pretty weather predictions GW huh?? ICK!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Not by choice....I had to go out and do the barn chores....

All the waters are frozen solid every day.....today the waterers were starting to get a layer of ice before I got done filling them all.....

The rest of my day is planned in the GH.....

Lindale, TX(Zone 8a)

Sorry about your cold weather. It's 59 degrees at 10:53 on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning. The high is expected to be 68.
Come on down to Texas.
Bill

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

That kind of weather is my favorite, Bill - sunny and around 70. You can't beat it!

Now they're saying 2-4" snow, then sleet and freezing rain overnight. Mom and dad are leaving to go up to Akron for a few days, but it hasn't started snowing here yet and they will beat the storm since it's coming from the south.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Bill, that is not very nice! LOL

The snow started flying a few minutes ago here. It is flakes mixed with ice balls. Wooo hoooo! NOT! I am gonna go play with my Brug seeds! LOL

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

I woke up to snow on the ground, snow still coming down! (Alex is collecting some of the clean stuff to pour honey over!)

Gonna turn to ice/sleet this afternoon, possible power outtages...some places may get a 2 inch ice acumulation! Ugh!

As for me, once I go get kerosene for the heater (in case we lose power) I'm gonna go make snow angels, snow balls, snow people! Not sure how much snow acumulation we'll get tho! However... ♫It's my party and I'll try if I want to, try if I want to...♫♫

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Hey GW, We are the pink under I65 in KY. Yes, we are having terrible icing this morning. Many roads in Louisville are closed and many church services have been canceled. Even the birds are skating off of the bird feeders/houses. I expect you will get more snow than ice GW? Be safe, Kathy :)

And Shoe isn't today your Bday? Your 50th? If it's not today, it was around today, so Happy Birthday. If I'm late, better late than never...Enjoy your snow day... :)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Happy Birthday again Shoe!! Try not to get too much snow in your pants and for goodness sakes, put on some real shoes!! At that age, getting too cold ain't good for ya. :)

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Yes, today is the day, Kathy. (Shhh...do you think others know?) ;>)

BS...I brought in my flipflops from the truck. Gonna thaw them out before I put them on.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

I promise I won't tell anyone Shoe. Good you brought in your flip flops. I was thinking are they sort of like snowshoes? Whatever you do, don't put them in the oven to thaw them out. :)

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Shoe I think it's kinda hard for anybody to miss. lol

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Alex could just pour honey in the indentations left by those size 10's, Shoe. She'd have frozen honey feet.

Ewwwwww, on second thought, maybe clean snow is better!

Emma doggie doesn't handle the cold very well and her poor paw pads hurt when she's outside for very long. She gets to the point where she just stands in one place, all hunkered down, and lifts her feet up alternately - a pitiful sight!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, we are completely covered in the white stuff now. Most of the churches and classes have closed evening sessions. Now we get to sit and wait for the snow to end so the sleet can start. Oh yay!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

We had a little ice when we got up this morning, but it was gone by noon. Still raining off and on and temps around 40.

Our first snowfall of the year. All is white and now the sleet is coming down. Not good folks!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

We have not seen one flake fall from the sky! Here's the radar again. So, where's all this snow that shows up on there?

Thumbnail by gardenwife
Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well Kimberley we have close to 4 inches now! You must have gotten lucky! LOL Supposedly when this ends the sleet is coming. Eewwwww!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

We had some snow this morning, but been sleet ever since. Said it would turn to rain but so far its still sleet.
