Big smile on my face ;0)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I was working down stairs, and I need to move plants, trim and sweep dead leaves.
I got to the back,I was going to take a cutting of Maya for Clare,as I looked down at the shoots,I saw a small bloom laying on top of the pot.
Look what I found at the top.
Made my day.

Way to go!! You will at least have a bloom and a little perfume to smell for a few days. Might make all those ouchies feel better.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

You shouldn't have to wait too long to see that bloom. I hope. Mine bloomed last fall, pale apricot.

Keep us posted, want to see pic.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I will keep you posted, gosh it is a jigsaw puzzle downstairs, when I pull them apart to clean,it takes longer to get them all back in under the lights.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I know what you mean, when I move mine to water, etc. it's hard to get them all back in place, like when you take food from the freezer, things do not all want to fit back in place.

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Doc,
You are so sweet. Don't you dare cut your Maya for me. Besides, Vickey sent me a rooted Maya cutting in a trade that we had a few weeks ago. I should have mentioned that to you. Thank you so much for thinking of me. You're a living doll. I hope I caught you in time before you cut into that beautiful plant of yours!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

There were 4 little shoots on bottom that needed to come off,I was waiting on my rockwool to do them,no biggie Clare.
if they take,I'm sure I can find a home for them.
I want the energy up top,I am dying to see any bloom right now,and one that I have never seen will be even better!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Thats a very nice smile on your face rooty and nice looking buds on Maya. Just wait until the fragrance fills your basement!

Ventura, United States(Zone 10b)

Thanks, Doc. You're an angel. Congratulations on your magnificent bud. I can't wait to see a picture of it when it blooms. You'll have to describe the scent for those of us who have never smelled one.

What color plumie do you have? I have a Celadine cutting for you when you are ready. You'll have to let me know when a good time to ship is:-)

Monika, should we be calling it Maja? This makes me wish I had some pollen,I am crossing my fingers,I found the first bud on the pot.(I only water once a week, and had been dragging pots around)
Clare you sweetie, you tease me with that great pic,I have never had one bloom,I got mine from Kyle in Iowa.
It will be some time before I ship anything,it is freezing outside right now.
MVR,one of these Majas has your name on it.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well that would make me smile too! What a pretty surprise!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Way to go Root!!! Maya or Maja is one of my favorites but have yet to see one bloom in person. Maybe this year.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

§hirley

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Oh scooterbug, you are so funny. At least, hs nose isnt red swollen like mine was, when I was sniffing too much and overlooked an nasty wasp!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL,Monika,I bet I would a real red nose,if I had your Brugs to sniff,No I do not have any pollen, but I need to get some soon.I hope to try my first cross this year.
Now that I know I can get them to bloom under lights,I hope I can keep pods going to maturity.
Scoot, this will be my first time seeing Maja bloom,my eyes are crossed from looking at the bud,I'm sure I can see it moving.
Monika, should I go up to full strength on fertilizer till it blooms,or stay at half strength?
Root.:0)

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Root, I have some pollen in my freezer that I can share. What colors are you looking for?

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I would be happy with any, what do you think would go well with this Brug?I had some a few months ago ,but it got wet.
Shirley showed me how to cross,so I guess I better get my feet wet!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Since Maya is on the orange-peachy side of the spectrum ... I'd stick with the same color pollen doner. Ya never know though ;) I'll see what I have in my pollen bag and send you a couple different varieties.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

You sweetheart!!!!Now I'm really excited!

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Root, don´t kill your Maya with a winterpollination..

Love

Ludger

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Why would a winter pollination kill it?
I'm running 18 hours of light per day.
75º tempature.
55 to 60 % humidity.
They think it is summer.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sounds like something I'd try. I doubt you will kill a plant of that size trying to grow a seed pod.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have pollinated about 100 flowers since late October Root and it is about 50 here average. Some took but most have not. :(( Monika told me to go for it! I just pollinated 4 L'Amour blooms last week. Sadly, my anthers are somewhat dry right now. Hope you have great luck!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

You can pollinate at anytime with the conditions, you have. Because of my short growing season, often, I have no other choice as to pollinate in the late fall.
But I would not fertilize full strength. It is still winter and the plants dont have the strong growth as in the summer, even though, they are under artifical light. It cannot be compared with natural light. There will always be a deficiency but it is a great help.
