Gathered MG, Brugmansia, & Datura seed this afternoon

This afternoon it was nearly 60 degrees outside so I gathered the above seeds. I had a vine of MG that were really a hot pink. My daughter gave me the seeds and things they are from a strain called Tie Dye. Then there are lots of Grandpa Otts. Since we have other MGs including the common wild ones in the yard also we may have some interesting looking MGs next year.

The Brug seeds are from a plant that has come back from seed for 3 or 4 years now. I orginally got it from Powell Gardens where I do volunteer work.

The datura is the only all white Jimson Weed we had this year that made seed pods.

Hopefully there will be enough to do some trading in the spring.

I have malva sylvestris "zebrina" reseeds easily and VERY heavily, also a beautiful all purple columbine, same here, tons of seeds and self sows very nicely unless heavily mulched. If none of these interest you, how about Rose of Sharon shrub "Hamabo" or "Red Heart"? both great re-seeders.

Breezy, I have dozens of Zebrina already. What color is the Hamabo Rose of Sharon? I looked online but can't find one. I really like RSs. Have Red Heart already. I would love to be able to grow the blue columbine but 3 or 4 trys already with no sucess I am not inclined to try again. Is your purple the same as a blue?

leaflady, email me at laurriebasiletti@msn.com and I will send you a photo of my ROS Hamabo, and the purple columbine is simple as pie, photo can be sent to you also, I just scratch the soil where i want the columbine, dump them in, and scratch the soil back over, they grow nicely for me. Can happily include some seeds for you to try. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Oh, those are gorgous. Please go to www.daylilies,plants,databases.com/vbl/h/140 and tell them how you propogate this ROS. They don't have pictures, or propogation info. The color there is listed as pink/white.

Hi, these are soo simple to do, I will go there, also, these are an older variety, that we have all over in my area, that I remember when I was a child 30 odd years ago LOL, I don't see them often for sale now like this one, but it reseeds heavily, if you don't want little seedlings come spring, you MUST snip off all the many tons of pods, I will take a photo and put here of how many I leave on Mamma plant to reseed, I also trade/sell the 1 year old seedlings of this plant, so I always leave some on to "drop" to reproduce more babies. Be right back to add photo....

Ok here are the seedlings under mamma, harder to see as it is a very dreary overcast day here, and in back you can see the wonderful flooding going on!!

Sorry, no pictures that I know of right now. I wish I had taken pictures tho. Maybe I'll find them on a roll from my husband's camera.

oh i think maybe leaflady is thinking GW. but in fact we did some business on ebay. a place which i'm still migrating back and forth from. someone take my paypal account away! haha. just building up my collection for spring trading here though. i'll definitely look at your store here laurrie!

oh leaflady, is that what you meant? Yes I do even migrate that way once in a blue moon, but they don't have much compared to these wonderful people!

I know what you mean too about paypal, geez, always something I just gotta have there!!!
