Kell! LOL I will letcha know.. you know what the small cutting is?? That little dude that had the buds! I was kinda sad! It just started rotting, so I snipped off the little bit that looked green in an effort to save the poor thing. LOL
I also have recieved the cuttings in the crystals, so I thought I would give it a try rooting. Poor thing has a better chance than staying on the momma plant. :o)
Brugie... thanks for the info!! I was thinking about trying some in the soild for the brugs, but.. I think I wont now. LOL I will use it in the indoor plants, and like you said on impatients and such.
I think I will do like someone else suggested, and try some brugs in pots, and plop the others just in the ground, when the weather is good enough. I will let them die back in fall outside. (of course I will be taking cuttings). :o)
Starting green cuttings in water
I am doing some leafy cuttings with this method right now. Is it necessary to have light getting to the roots, ie having them in a clear glass? I have so many, I'll be out of glasses by the time they're all up on my baker's rack.
And one more thing on the subject- I have 2 larger cuttings that have buds on them...they have big leaves and I have them in glasses of water....do i HAVE to take off the buds?? I know it would help with rooting...but I would be so sad. And if I do HAVE to, will someone do it for me while I hide?
anyone know the answers?
awww I dont know but?? look at it this way, if you do? you will have more blooms sooner, on the other hand perhaps if you cut all but one, you will get to enjoy one bloom, and not sacrifice as much energy that the cutting needs to root?
well... one the biggest one I had with blooms, it got those scale mites or whatever they are. so it got really wilty and the blooms fell off anyway. And on the other two with blooms I had, I pulled them off and put them in water too...maybe they'll kinda bloom? not expecting much.
But I'm still not sure about the rooting part..do the roots need light?
no, the roots donīt need light.
Well I'll jump in here and act like I know what I'm doing.......
I keep my cuttings in clear glasses, jars, or whatever I can find. Even have some in tiny jelly glasses, without the jelly, of course, then under the lights, have never tried any in the dark.
On the buds, I would leave at least one bud, but take off a couple big leaves. I usually only leave them on the very top, just to keep them suspended.
Hope this helps. Anyone else have anything to add or subtract?
Gloria, you are right:-)
the leeaves will need light. Not the roots:-)
I take away all buds because they take away much power from rooting.

thanks yall!
