I just got a telephone call from one of our daughters that our youngest daughter's little 2 yr. old daughter, Reagon, has been rushed to the hospital for heart surgery. She has a catheter put in her chest wall because she has to get IGG gamma globulin transfusions every 2 weeks. She was born with a severe immune deficiency like the type the original bubble boy was born with. The doctor is hoping that with these treatments, by the time she is 6 to 8 yrs. old, she will outgrow it. These transfusions help her body fight against bacteria, viruses, allergies, etc. When our daughter took her in for her transfusion this morning, as soon as they started the treatment, Reagon started screaming and her chest started swelling. They immediately took an x-ray and discovered that a piece of the catheter had broken off and gone into her heart. Depending on the size of the piece and whether or not it is affecting heart rhythm, they will either do the surgery immediately or in the morning. Please, please everyone that reads this say a prayer that everything will go well, and little Reagon will come through this. She is such a little fighter. She had double pneumonia last Christmas and the doctors weren't sure she would make it, but with the power of prayer and God's healing hands, she came through it and was home for Christmas.

What a terrible thing to have happened. I feel like I almost know your family now, seeing all of your pictures of such special events. I will pray very hard Sylvia!
oh that's horrible! I'll be sending lots of healing thoughts and her way, I hope everything works out okay.
Sylvia, will keep Reagon and you and the family in my thoughts and prayers.
Thanks so much everyone. Reagon's surgery is scheduled for in the morning, and right now they are keeping her sedated so she won't move any more than possible. She is stable and her heart is beating normally with no irregular heartbeat. The surgeon thinks he can go in through her groin and thread into her heart and pull the catheter piece out that way, with no invasive heart surgery. My daughter has so much faith in God and prayers, that she just knows that everything is going to be ok.
Please keep the prayers going. We appreciate them so very much.
Praying for your little baby.

I hope the surgery is over by now Sylvia, and Reagan is sleeping well. I have been thinking of her and of Daniel, Amanda's son all morning!
I hope, that the surgery turned out good and your little granddaughter is sleeping well. All my thoughts and best wishes are with you and Reagan.
Sylvia I missed all this and am terribly saddened to read it all today. I am sure you have way more important stuff to do today but I'll be waiting to hear of the outcome. That is certainly a bizarre medical happening and I am sure something no one could expect. Having a hubby that has been through angiograms and angioplasty, it is wonderful to know what they can do without having to do surgery. I truly wish your family blessings.
I want to thank everyone for their prayers and concern and to let you know that they sure must have worked. Our daughter nearly collapsed last night when the pediatric cardiologist told her at the hospital that not just a piece of the catheter, but the entire catheter had broken loose and had gone through Reagon's entire heart into her lung and lodged. Their was just one tiny piece barely sticking out of the top of her aorta and the cardiologist was hoping against hope that she could latch onto it and snake it back down through the vein and out her groin. They had the heart cath operating room on emergency standby all night with a team of experts on call, if there was an immediate emergency. Little Reagon made it through the night with absolutely no problems at all. She never had an irregular heartbeat or anything. They took her into surgery 2 hrs. later than planned, because the hospital had so many emergencies this morning. They took her into surgery at 9:30 and she was out of surgery by 10:25. The doctor said she was able to latch onto that little piece that was sticking out and snake the catheter all the way back down with no problems at all. Reagon was awake and laughing and cutting up by 1:00. Everyone was just amazed that she never even had one irregular heartbeat or anything. The cardiologist said that her guardian angel must have been sitting on her tiny shoulder the whole time.
Thanks so much to all of you for your prayers. Don't every let anyone tell me that prayer doesn't work.
