propagating cottonwood

hello..does anyone know if there is any hope of propagating branches that are in bud (it turned warm this last few weeks) that blew off a cottonwood tree and if a person could how would you. Could I just bring them in and put them water. We live in North Dakota. THanks Woodi

Woody, I don't think it will work this time of year for you. It should be easy to do in the spring when the sap is rising.
