Wow! That is a really nice plant. I have one too, but it doesn't look as good as yours. Gotta few questions:

Do you feed it?
And if so, what do you feed it?
How long does it bloom for you?
Does it attract hummingbirds?

Cougar, thanks. I think it gets some Miracle Grow a couple of times during the summer when I fertilize my other plants, but from what I understand, this plant can grow in rock gardens and make do with very little fertilizer and little water. It is blooming now and will continue to bloom through fall. It does attract hummingbirds, but I have a hummingbird feeder, red salvia, and red cannas, and I think they like those things better.

It does get a little lanky and tends to flop over but responds well to pruning. It can be staked. Here it is between the Mexican Salvia and Mexican Flame Vine.

Hey thanks for the info and extra pictures Clare. Wow, that's a really nice garden you got there also. I just started to get my Mexican flame vine weaved into a trellis and started a mexican bush sage too (they look really good together in your picture). Looks like you do a lot of pinching/pruning to keep it so floriferous.

I hear that y'all (or some places in California) have year round hummingbirds too.

My pleasure, Cougar, and thank you for the compliments. I do prune the Mexican Salvia and the Mexican Flame Vine back each year to make way for new growth. The Mexican Flame Vine in particular can grow huge, and I recently discovered that snails like to hide out in it. It also gets aphids sometimes which can make the leaves curl.

It's pretty mild here in the winter, but I think the humming birds do disappear for a month or two, but they always come back:-)
