Can Murphy oil soap be used in place of the horticultural oil?

Nope! That is not a dumb question at all. (Don't know why there hasn't been a reply.)

Using Cala's baking soda recipe above you can safely add 1 tablespoon of Murph's. This is known to control powdery mildew as well.
