I got sent to Disneyland But I came here instead...

Denver, CO(Zone 6a)

Hi,
I just got banned from Garden Web, not too bad for only being there for two months. I said something that Spike didn't like. Actually, I mentioned "Dave's Garden" and, wham, my member page was gone! I am a newbie to gardening and already like it here better than GW. I even became a subscriber. Just wanted to say hello!

Glad you like it here DG are the best!

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

Welcome Mobi you will find that this is the best gardening site on the web. Several here have been sent to Disneyland also.

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

Welcome :) I ended up here the same way 2,5 years ago.

Payneville, KY(Zone 7a)

Hi Mobi, Welcome to the best place on the web. You can even mention GW here and I'm pretty positive Dave won't boot you. He's a good guy and has had his share of grief from GW also. GW can't handle the competition, if that's what you want to call it. There really is no comparison or competition in my eyes. :) Have a wonderful day.

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Although I have never been a member of the "other" place, I've heard soo many things about the free trips to Disneyland! Don't care to be over there myself, because I feel MUCH more at home here! :)
Welcome to your new home Mobi

Edgewater, MD(Zone 7a)

I dont think I want to go to GW. I havnt even checked it out, Ive got everything I need right here.

Welcome to DG, Mobi -- a very pleasant place, much better than Disneyland.

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

Mobi. It is really nice to meet you:)

mobi welcome to our garden home! I came here many moons ago and i will never leave! Im sure you will find that this site offers so much more than GW could ever think of offering!
Friendships are the biggest thing we offer here! So jump right in and enjoy!

I love the denver broncos! One of my favorite teams to cheer for since my hometeam always does so well! ;)

have fun,
dori

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

So you walk in the gardening clogs of many before you! LOL You are not the first to be set free from GW and you won't be the last! I still peek in over there but don't say much. You'll find a very happy environment here. :) Glad to have you and nice to meet you!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Welcome, Mobi!

I hear a lot of folks get a trip to Disneyworld for very minor things, but you have to be pretty nasty or flagrant in abuse to get booted from here. Just stick to gardening and friends and stay away from anything really contentious. : )

I guess I really have been to GW, just a scant few days before I discovered this site many, many moons ago, but it was brief.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Welcome to The Friendly Place! Dave was so nice to provide all us refugees with a friendly home.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

A hearty Welcome to DG, Mobi! Come on in!

Browse around, jump in, enjoy the sharing!

Lots of good knowledge here, as well as good hearts! Be seein' you around!

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

Seems like 'banned from GW' is getting to be a badge of honor around here. LOL.

Anyway, welcome to DG. I agree with darius, you really have to do wrong to get in trouble here. Feel free to discuss anything garden related, and almost anthing else. You are gonna love it here.

I propose a roundup for the GW outcasts. Do you think we could all fit into Rhode Island? :)

DG is my favourite gardening place too. I must confess to going 'over there' also. I'm at home and I get really bored after looking after all the little darlings on the window sills and under lights. It's a looooong winter up here and Canadians just aren't active enough on DG. Consider me a recruiter. I have seen the pitfalls. Just wondering, others of you that frequent both, do you use the same moniker. What is best? I got an email from someone at DG (not a subscriber) and found her 'over there' too.

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Hmmm...I'm not an outcast, nor one who was banned from GWeb. When I was invited to DG I saw what it was and how much better a place it is. I left GWeb willingly! (I did go back two times, this past yr, to look for some info from Carolyn tho.)

Dave's Garden and GWeb? No competition.

DG is like a lap-size colorful portfolio/book, full of amazing pictures, knowledgeable people, exciting happy-go-lucky people, family, easy-to-read print, and lots of open arms.

Welcome to DG Mobi!

I still visit GW occasionally and yes, I use the same screen name there. But I must admit it is nowhere near as friendly to occasional visitors and the rules are so convoluted with no warnings issued that it is always a gamble to post anything because you never know when you will land up on a flying teacup or sliding down the Matterhorn.

And as everyone here can attest...Zanymuse does not like to keep quiet for too long :~)

One of the best technical things about DG is that you can follow things. It's easy to get back to where you've been. Just way more user friendly. There are lots of nice people there too, they just don't know how nice it is here. And people are creatures of habit.

Denver, CO(Zone 6a)

Thank you so much for the welcome! I'm beginning to think that getting sent to Disneyland was one of the best things to happen to me!

Welcome Mobi

I think I need to go the GW and join just long enough to post something about how great it is here.

I don't think I've ever been kicked out of anywhere, it might be pretty exciting!!!!

Ummm, a note of caution for you would-be insurrectionists :)

DG suffers from an image problem at GardenWeb - those who try to post a link to DG get a message that DG is in the habit of spamming Gardenweb. (Totally untrue, of course.) But this long-running problem is the unfortunate result of some well-meaning members here who tried to convert a few of their friends a long time ago. I'm afraid that if the pot gets stirred again, it just lends credence to Spike's claim that we're spamming his site, and I'd really rather we not give him that satisfaction.

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Just took a short trip & checked it out. I love the popup ads! Dave has a better handle on making things simple to use. Love this place!

Welcome Mobi. I think you have seen just from the post made to you here, you will like it here. DG is the happening place. We don't need to convince you of that. You will soon see for yourself. But I will add one thing its addictive be prepared to spend endless hours here. :)

Well I've just mentioned a few nice things about DG in a couple of emails during trade negotiations.

I'm not sure about that. I've responded to sase's but ALWAYS sent postage (as well as a small gift). As about having trade lists there and not here, I couldn't comment. You'll have to make your own judgment about that. There are quite a few traders who are member's of both, perhaps they might have an idea. I'm just setting up my tradelist - just basic stuff until next year when I get to grow these seeds that great people have sent me. Then I can collect my own and send out sase's myself. I did collect a few seeds from some of the plants I already had in my garden. But being new to seed collecting, I wanted to test them this winter/spring to make sure that I really collected seed and not just chaff, before I offer them for trade.

Welcome Mobi, I have only been a member of DG for about a year and hslf, and love it. Have learned a lot from all the good members here. Right now I am in the other WA-WA DC visiting my daughter for over Thanksgiving. Had to get on in a free moment to see how everyone is doing. Donna aka rutholive

HI Mobi and welcome to DG from yet another expelled to disney land! I was turfed out for using the same user name as my business!! seems Spike has a real bee in his bonnet about advertising. He let me back in soon enough but I dont go there much these days! Besides the gaffer here is a much friendlier and nicer guy and I get to keep my name!! ;)

Hello psilo, I found your website, it looks very interesting. I'm going to get back and have a better look. I couldn't get to it from your member page however.

Yeesh! I can't believe everyone is so apologetic about being able to use a SERVICE that they PAY for! Anytime anyone doesn't want your business flip them the bird and go to a competitor. Its the American WAY!
