High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Meiyu is busy raising funds, selling stuffs on ebay. accdg to her to support feeding the brugs she grows. just in case, some might be interested, here is what she has posted http://cgi6.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=meiyu1&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50

u're very welcome Sue. just a shame not to show or post the lovely brugs Meiyu grows in her yard.

Tiara, Meiyu says has a very lovely scent. it has been blooming for her all summer long.

yeah rub it in Sylvia LOL! i might get to see the brugs Meiyu grows someday, if i get enough nerve to fly again :)!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Beautiful pictures! She is able to keep her plants still outside, she is a lucky girl!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Monika,

Meiyu is pretty lucky to keep her brugs on the ground. as we speak, their daytime temp is in the 70's, while night time is in the 60's http://wwwa.accuweather.com/adcbin/public/local_index.asp?zipcode=78258&partner=kwtx

here, in Hesperia, Ca., my brugs are suffering from frost! our daytime temp is in the 50's, while night time temps. are in the upper 30s to 40s.

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

hahaha...well, hi there everyone!! been awhile, eh? sorry, the puter's driving me nutzoid, man! by the time i get done with ebay [deleted], i wanna throw the darn thing out the window! however, i found out last night that i don't get so frustrated with ebay if i have 2 or 3 windows open at the same time, and do something else while one window is loading pics or something...hahaha...so maybe i'll have one dgs window open. the problem may be that i'll loose my material because i start talking so much in another window that i forget about one that's loading pics, and when i go back i'm in time out and all my entry disappears...argh! that's what happened last night when i was im'ing viola, dude, i have to reenter everything again now! oh, well, at least i got a break and went to take the pics yesterday and was able to enjoy the brugs for a few minutes! the weather here is so awesome that my blooms are staying for days! in the summertime, they bloom for one night, then fall off by 10 am, all dried out! i finally have my first seed pod ever! it's on the windsor white! they have never grown before, and i could never understand what everyone was talking about...i guess it's too dry here? here's a picture of the mama tree...she's about to bloom again tonight or tomorrow, but here's an old shot!

Great pictures Meiyu. Everything looks just great. However, the one you have labeled versicolor white, isn't. It is probably a suaveolens. I didn't open the picture to look at it closely. Maybe someone else will have time to open it and tell you what it is for sure. I think I need to send you some color. Then you can mix it up a bit more. Love that Tiara. You Whiskers looks great too. Heck they all look beautiful. You are lucky to have them blooming now. Everything here is GONE!!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Wow Meiyu... They look great! I have to agree with Shirley on the versi white. Versi blooms hang straight down. Your Snowbank looks fabulous. Mine hasn't even Yed yet.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

OK,bloom envy,zone envy,brug envy......

beautiful!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Beautiful pictures. Meiyu, watch if Tiara will change color.
In warmer climates like in southern Germany, she is a heavy bloomer. At my place, she pleases me with much foliage but no flowers.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Great pics there Meiyu! Good to see you back posting. For shame on you for smoking though! I hope you wash your hands well before touching your brugs. Did you know you can give them Tobacco Mosaic Virus? Bad brug mom bad! LOL

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

gee kell, don't yell at her, we just got her back!

You look so darn cute little Meiyu! And now I find out what you were doing during our conversation, lol! (I type way too slow for IM, I know!)

I absolutely love your Snowbank pic, what is that blooming around it? And is that Tiara bloom that big or is your hand so tiny, hahaha :)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I was whispering it Vi, really! LOL

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Ah, to live in Texas and have brugs year round ~ that's a dream :) Great pictures, Meiyu! So glad you posted.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Meiyu, your brugs are gorgeous!

Waaa all I want is brug blooms. I wanna smell a brug before I turn 100. I finally had some buds the night it was supposed to turn 11 degrees and when I brought the plant in it lost all its buds so I really have brug envy now.

Dayton, OH(Zone 5a)

Me thinks I will now consider AZ as a retirement possibility :)

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

hi everyone! yes, you guys are right...the versicolor white label was meant for the little brug trying to grow beside the huge one there...i don't know which one it could be, then, and hope someone can positively identify it?

also we've decided that someone just made up that name they had on the big white brug at the nursery here, because it's just too similar to Kyle's Giant White...so I'm going with that, over Windsor White Datura (that's what it was marked, i know, i know...). it's gotta be kgw...it's sooooo big!!!

my brugs are still blooming, but i was afraid of a freeze and went to take cuttings. ponditis had never smelled a brug before, so i sent her a big huge box filled with brugs in bloom...my versicolor peach and orange, along with candida double white were digging the weather, guess they like the colder climate, so she got a good whif, i hope!

it made me sick to cut down all those brugs covered with flower buds, though, and some are still in vases, and i'm still praying for the flowers to open up, but most all have just fallen off and died...argh!

snowbank and golden lady were next to each other and were attacked by some kind of brown bugs that looked like little bits of dirt stuck to the leaves...they're still alive, but there's not much left of them.

monika, tiara did begin getting a very slight peach lining as the weather grew cooler. they went from cream-white, to slightly more yellow, then to a tinge of peach here and there....wild! she bloomed well for me, but not nearly as well as candida double white! i those two were my best and most consistent bloomers of all, as the rest bloomed in cycles.

brugie, i just didn't get to the pinks yet...here's rosamond!

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

here's a yellow one, i'm not sure if this is my old faithful generic texas brand, or something else...

Thumbnail by meiyu
san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

and i have v. peach and v. orange, but they must not like the heat, because they didn't even begin to think about blooming until a couple of weeks or so ago...they were blooming when i cut them down, so ponditis is the only one who got to enjoy my oranges...boo-hoo!

Thumbnail by meiyu
san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

i don't know about the smoking, kell...i think mine like it!

viola, that's some kind of hibiscus that grows like a weed here. no fragrance, but really pretty fillers...blooms from march to december here, and drops seeds and starts 100 new plants every year. i have lots of seeds and rooted cuttings if you'd like. tiara is kinda big...golden lady is super small...my french vanilla was even smaller. candida double white was about the same as tiara, maybe a bit smaller.

no, morph, no year-round brugs, trust me. they hate the month of august, and we do freeze here. i found out this year that they return from the dead, which is why i have so many that i didn't know the names of...i threw the labels away when i thought they were dead. now, arizona...there's an idea! but doesn't it freeze there, too? beautiful there, though. the summers are much better there, i think.

oh, willow wasp, you threw me for a loop...i was like, brugs i sent you??? me??? haha...i remember now, you're the one ma vie threatened me with..haa..just kidding. have i sent all the pics now, or do you have some i didn't post here yet? oh, knightii and texas pink aren't posted...here they are together, then....

Hi Meiyu! You don't know me because I'm new here, but I think your pictures are awesome! And you are pretty darn cute too:-) Your unidentified white one has a lot of white B. Suaveolens traits so I bet it is either a B. Suaveolens or a B. Suaveolens hybrid. Your yellow one looks very similar to either Charles Grimaldi or Dr. Suess. Thanks for sharing all the lovely pictures.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Ya gotta love that Rosamond!! Thanks!

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Whhooooo Hoooo I have FINALLY smelled a brug! They smell magnificent too. I think I was smelling a Candida Double White that smelled like vanilla and the Shreded White smelling like something else that I have baked before. I have what is left of the blooms in a vase and can smell them nightly till they are gone. THANK you Meiyu for the very nice care package of brugs and brug flowers. Only one bud made the trip intact but so far the plants seem to still be alive but without any leaves. Poor naked things are in their new pots or in vases till they are fully rooted. Meiyu, you have taken my senses to another level of appreciation this week. Now I can't wait till I have blooms in the yard or our bedroom. If they do bloom in our bedroom I hope my asthma likes the fragrance. LOL
