hello from Japan

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Welcome from Ohio, Goldenfish! Your member name made me think of a beautiful pond, too. I've never tried to grow orchids because I thought they were too difficult; with so many unusual blooms, though, I might have to try.

Have you ever seen the website of Big White Guy? He's a Canadian who moved to Hong Kong with his Japanese wife. He's a great photographer and writes some really interesting stuff. http://bigwhiteguy.com

Hey goldenfish, can you give me
instuctions on how to shape a
regular tree to make it look
bonsai??

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Then it would be topiary; bonsai is very tiny.

Welcome to Dave's!

Tottori, Japan(Zone 9a)

Welcome deller! Are you interested in bonsai? I like bonsai, too. A regular tree is a tree in a garden you mean? If the tree in a pot, you can train it likes bonsai to use wire. It is difficult to explain how to make bonsai for my English proficiency though, you can get some good imfomation in Bonsai forum:) Recreating the weathered trees in a small pot is Bonsai. I hope you find it informative.

Hi goldenfish. I love your name since I raise koi. I spent a few years when I was small in Taiwan. We had vacations in Japan and I danced in the fountain at the Royal Palace when I was 3 years old. Japan is very pretty and the people always were friendly with my family.

Welcome to DG from Idaho and me,

Lani

Hello Lani!
Dancing 3 years old girl in the fountain....sounds like cute! and you have a good memory! I have a friend in Taiwan,so I'd like to go there one of these days. Thank you!

I wish we knew what happened to our maid that we had in Taiwan. We lost contact with her in about 1962. She was wonderful to us and we wanted to bring her to the states but the government wouldn't let us.
