Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Heather,I'll keep you a little one for spring round up.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Nice ears in that last pic Root!!! LOL Please tell me, how do you grow everything that you do? Some of the pics that I see that you're growing would scare me! And I'm in z7! Aren't you in z6? I will have to give them a try next year!

Brinda :)
You should start a coop! LOL

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Brinda,I will be taking the big ones to a greenhouse for the winter.

Detroit, MI(Zone 5b)

Hey rootdoctor thanks for calling, nice to hear from you. I was checking out those pictures and now I can't wait for spring. So I'm off to the basement to my time machine.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 5b)

Oh, goody! I can hardly wait for spring as it is. I've shown DH some of the pics you've posted from time to time, and I think he's a little worried what I might come home with after the next round up. LOL

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL!Heather, not to worry,I won't give you a monster to start!
Froto, always great to talk with you!get the time machine running!!!!Set for spring!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Bob, those things are enormous. It must be all that compost and rabbit poo. My macs didn't send up one baby this year. I'm hoping that the one I kept will be large enough to do it next year. That banana is something else. It is hard to believe that it was small enough to go through the mail this spring. Don't you just hate the bare yard look now?

Lenexa, KS(Zone 5b)

root, I know I will love anything that comes from your garden, whatever the size. I just hope I can get the same kind of results that you do!

Lisa I can't hear you???? ROTFLOL! Thanks Doc, needed a good chuckle !!!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Good John,I always like to make folks smile!!!If you get on BGI tonight, send me an Email with your address,it will go into my other box,I can not open MSN,and that is where all my addresses are.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

LOL,Poppysue,I have DW scared to go to the store, there is less room in the house when she comes back!!!!
I whacked back the Brugs,so I have a full aroma in the house, she likes that, and she was so impressed with the Nana, she wants to take it to work,I just have to send them a picture of it.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

Root...

I have a nana that is about 5' tall. I just noticed 2 pups on it. Now....how do I get them? I think I remember seeing a post long ago that it's pretty tricky. Is that true? How long do I wait? They are only about 4" now. Thanks in advance!

Brinda:)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Brinda,I am not the Pro on this,May haps John can say better then I,I had three nice pups on the big one,I dug the whole root, and with it laying on it's side I cleared the roots on the pups free and snapped off the bulbs,I did it wrong on one,it broke close,no roots:0(
but the other two look fine.
I'll see if I can dig up a pic tomorrow for you.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

My musa is in a pot and there are all kinds of pups, I've been afraid to touch them. Last evening when I got home I noticed it even has a pinkish bloom coming on it. Will I really get bananas?

Lappeenranta, Finland(Zone 3a)

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

my buds fell off. :

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

CC, don't feel alone. I've never had buds and probably never will. Too cold up this direction and no winter greenhouse.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Well, reread about my musa 'african red' and it is ornamental only, bears no fruit. But you guys said the blooms will last a long time in cut arrangements, so will give that a try!

Summerville, SC(Zone 8b)

rootdoctor, I just glanced at this thread. The tara family is easy to ship. Did them up, and cut off everything but about one inch above the tuber. Everyone could pot up for their sun room, hoop house, greenhouse...or put in ground and give a very heavy mulch...at least 12 inches.

They are amazing plants.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

root...
You can't hear me? I can hear you....how's the digging coming along??

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Wow! What big ears you have! Good thing the wind isn't blowing. I read this whole thread and now I'm thinking bananas for my new greenhouse. What is a good variety?

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

holy big ears batman!!! wow lisa those are huge-mine are so tiny! LOL

hehehehe.....Who needs cell phones!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

You guys are making me crazy here. With the frost although protected with insulation, mulch and burlap, I have palm fronds buckling left and right. I just gotta build a GH around the island LOL!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Lisa yours sure looks great!!!!I wish I did not have to dig mine!
They sure get nice bulbs,I think I may need a little bigger pot for this guy.
