I love my alstromeria. How can I make more? Or is that just a fantasy. Would cuttings root in water?
Thanks.
ALSTROMERIA???
you need to dig deep and carefully and select fat white tuberous roots. Dont do it now. Wait for spring or after they go dormant
Here in zone 8, a good question is how not to make more, LOL..Mine re-seeds and spreads so fast by the tubers that I have to spray with Round-up about twice a year.. I love it, but it is way to invasive here..Good luck with your's..
Larkie
Larkie,
I receive some from you a few
years ago. I can get them to
bloom, they come up die back &
start to grow again. What am I
doing wrong?? I have tried full
sun & part shade. Do you have a
secret about growing them?? I am also Zone 8B Ms. Gulf Coast.
Thanks,
Honeybee
Honeybee,
I have no idea.. I can't get rid of them.. I love the flowers, but they are so invasive..I have them all over, full sun, shade, and even in the edge of the woods..They are only looked after by Mother Nature, except when I get them with the Round-Up..lol
Larkie
I cant come up with a reason either
Could be that your soil is too rich for them so they don't need to flower.
maybe too wet underground and they are rotting out of view
Thanks everyone. If anything
my soil is sandy & dry.
I have a friend in New Orleans,
his are so pretty & believe me
his soil is very rich. The best flower garden I ever had was in N.O. 2 blocks from the Ms. river. The dirt is like "Black Gold". Love being here in the country, just wish I had that dirt!!
Thanks again, I'll just keep trying.
Honeybee
