Congratulations Shirley, you must be estatic. I am hoping for the best on mine, but I doubt the buds will
bloom out before I have to dig out and move my plant.
I think that is great that you have gotten a bud that bloomed out.
HG is finally opening...
kell, do you put the cuttings in soil, then water, put a bag over them? Do you leave the bag on till you see leaves??
Bad news....the bloom looked wilted this afternoon and it fell off. I got to see it bloom and that is what I wanted. There is another one that is very pretty and I like it better than HG. Will post pictures of it later.
Congratulations Shirley!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Beautiful. Keep sending those photographs.
Sitting here and waiting:-)
Jeanne, after three days, the bloom fell off. I only have one bud left now too. Maybe the quick changes in the temps had something to do with it. Down in the twenties and then back to the high 70's might be too much for it. There is always next year.
llizh, the cuttings go in water first, then when the little white bumps appear (the beginnings of roots) they are potted. I also put plastic bags over mine. Reminds me of putting inverted glass jars over rose cuttings.....
Thanks woodspirit1, I need to find the right kind of bags.
is it unusual for a small cutting grow to about 6 ft tal and have blooms on it too. i would really like to know.
No, it isn't unusual. That is normal. I start every fall with new cuttings for the next summer then whack them up and start again for the following summer. However, with HG, I would not do that. Mine has been kept intact heading into it's third summer.
