My neighbor is getting ready to cut back a huge old honeysuckle vine. How do you propagate HS. Can I just take cuttings and root them in water or is there a better way?
HELP! Save the honeysuckle vine
well here in alabama it get very weedy the birds transplant seeds every where
Take cuttings that are not blooming if you can. Semi-ripe wood works best. Cut the stem right below a leaf node to seal the hollow stem, remove the lower leaves(any that will be on the stem when it's stuck in the rooting medium) and clip out the tender tip. Stick the cuttings in vermiculite or potting soil, keep moist and in the shade till they are rooted.
