Sent SASE today. Thanks so much.

Northern California, CA

I've sent a bunch of these to imzadi for her school project and still have tons of seeds left if anyone is still looking for seeds. Just email me for address.

I have to say that the benefits of this trade have been overwhelming....many sent EXTRA stamps, extra seed envelopes, lovely cards, special seeds from their own gardens....I want to make sure that everyone knows how much I learned from this experience and that I truly appreciate the overwhelming kindness that seems to pervade this community.

Now if we could figure out how to package all that love, caring and kindness.....that would be a trade that could change the world.

Hello Candy, I already received seeds from you - thanks again. I was just wondering...how many plants did all of these seeds come from? I am soooo excited that they grow so quickly, I can hardly wait!!

Evening Angela -

I still have about 1/2 CUP of these seeds and although I cut the plant back severely a couple of weeks ago, there are still pods maturing and ready to harvest. These all came from 1 plant, purchased in June at Annie's Annuals in Richmond ( www.anniesannuals.com ) in a 4" pot. Her plants are also available at many Bay Area nurseries.

Before I started chopping on it it was about 4' high and 8' wide. I pruned it at least 4 times during the summer to try to contain it.

Here it was in late September

Washington, PA(Zone 6b)

I got mine to and wanted to thank you publicly. You are sooo kind...
thank you, thank you, thank you...

Northern California, CA

You are all more than welcome, I just hope they grow and prosper to be shared again next season.

I still have many seeds available for SASE if anyone else wants to give it a try. I do need to go out with gloves and pruners to get more pods that are ready. I can't imagine how many babies will come up on their own next year, so if you don't hear from me come spring send in the search party with machetes to look for me.

Email me for address if you too would like to try this out.

I've had a lot of interest in the seed packets I sent, so here's the scoop:

ANY color printer can do this, I use a very inexpensive HPdeskjet 5650 and HP's premium paper because it holds the color ink better and is stiff enough to make a secure packet. A bottle of tacky glue to hold the packet together, make sure the glue is dry before adding seeds.

Use any existing image you have, rotate if needed, resize, cut and paste it onto the template, print a couple of test runs in black and white. Voila!

Just heard from Gretchen that she has had 100% germination of the D. tatula seeds I sent her last fall. Good for you girl!

Which reminds me that I still have a ton of these seeds harvested last fall. I just cut the plant back again a few days ago.....it is still producing seed pods just loaded, but I've disposed of all the ones that have been sitting out there in the rain for weeks.

Email me for address if you would like Datura tatula seeds for small padded envelope with 49cents postage.

Guess what? I have my first of many blooms opening in the GH tonight. Happenstance: I have planted these everywhere...LOL. Now I'm going to give the excess plants to friends. This has been a really fun plant. They grow like crazy and are quite hearty little buggers! I haven't lost one. Thank you again :)

Awww gee......just too cute.

You are way ahead of me.....my seedlings are still tiny babies and I'm looking for a place to plant them.

I chopped the Mother plant way back and see no signs of new growth although it is fairly obvious that it is still alive.....may have to yank her out if she doesn't hurry up and bush up with leaves.

Thanks for the picture!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

You're welcome!

I wondered about that. I have a feeling they might survive the winters here, and was curious about Spring re-growth.

Also, did you pinch back to keep yours from getting leggy? Thanks...Gretchen

Northern California, CA

Morning Gretchen -

I actually whacked a couple of feet off several branches serveral times during last years growing season. It wants to be (or mine did) about 4' tall and grow really really long arms. :-)

My seedlings are just getting a second set of leaves, but I just put them in a seed tray outside about 2 weeks ago. I don't see any coming up in that bed yet and I know seeds dropped during last year's season.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Yes, I can see that happening. I have several other Dat varieties started at the same time as these, and these are much taller and leggier than those. Someone told me that it doesn't do any good to pinch this variety, and I'm believing her! I'm surprised that you don't have any seedlings coming up. They sprouted so quickly for me. Maybe they're just waiting for their perfect moment... You have a great day, Candy!

Windham, OH(Zone 5b)

Hi Happen, was wondering if you had any seeds left for your Datura tatula, would love to have some, PLMK, thanks, ShrlieB

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

If she doesn't, I believe I may have some left -- she was very generous! I planted 72 seeds and ended up with 72 plants!!! I'll go through my seed box and see if in fact I have some left. Gretchen

Northern California, CA

ShrlieB -

I have plenty left, just email me by clicking my name and I'll send you the address for seeds. :-)

UPDATED 04/04/04
ALL REMAINING SEEDS HAVE BEEN PROMISED, THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST
