Cathy, let us know what you find out. If the news is bad that means we just have to work harder to get it stopped. I agree that throwing stones is not the way to fix anything, but working together is. John, no one would ever mail out diseased brugs knowingly.
need help
BB...good thought:-)
Everyone from the GA-Round up will remember and will know that I brought in chocolates and nothing else because I knew about stängelbrand and your custom.......
Brugpeople all over the world, try to make peace!
Stängelbrand is a serious illnes but some people try to use it.
That is not fair........:-)
I will not type more here because I am afraid to offend anyone.
Just a thought: If we want to enjoy our brugs...we should stop it.
Newcomers will wonder,I am very sorry. Oldies will know...
I enjoy the privates with true plantlovers...:-)
Love you
Ludger

PLEASE STOP THIS MADDNESS ! Right now I don't care who got what from whom or when they got it. NOTHING more needs to be pointed out after all that was said yesterday. That is now the past...let's please move forward?
I am so glad that Cathy and David and others are having their plants checked out and am anxiously awaiting their reports. THEN we all can work to eradicate this nasty disease together .
"Don't point your finger at another when you clearly have 3 pointing back at yourself"
A quote from my mom...who heard it from where... I know not.
John, he talked about me. I was the only one in october...
i think it is unfair but I can forgive:-)
In history I used bad words....may be:-)
today and tomorrow and for ever I want to have peace.
Best would be: Going back to the roots.
Sorry again if I have used wrong words again.
Sitting here and touching my head.....not for you john:-)you are ok:-)

People, many of us were importing brugs legally BEFORE 2001.
I imported from Hodniks and from Tonny Surrow.I know that Eric imported at least from Tonny and Vicki imported a ton of brugs from Europe. My point is that brugs have been coming in from Europe, legally, for years. They continue to come in with
the proper permits and quarantines. This problem has been here all along. It's nothing new.
David....for what it's worth,I was at the Ga swap last fall.NO one brought in anything illegal. You are way out of line for trying to keep that lie going..
I have had problems in the past too...
http://davesgarden.com/t/363899/ That one was also a seedling back in 2002. I don't think it's fair to point fingers and accuse anyone when we are not even sure what this disease going around is. It may be SB... it might be some other type of stem rot. I wish I had known back then what I know now. We're all still learning and this has been an unfortunate mess. It's not fair to point fingers and attack each other. The thought to have that seedling tested never even crossed my mind.
I sent out over 60 boxes this past fall. It's quite possible that I sent out hundreds of cuttings that might have SB or some other nasty brug illness. I'd like to think anyone that has a sick plant from me would be thoughtful enough to tell me so. I'd also hope that wouldn't open me up for accusations and attacks.
We're all grown up here. I think it's about time to start acting like it. This had made the DG brug forum a very unfriendly and hostile environment. To be honest... I'm embarrassed to be a part of it.
Sooo David, how many private e-mails did you get since you have posted that Rothkirch?...lol
Catsmeow very mean of you to act this way.
I meant to the young fellow 16 year old.

David would never send contaminated brugs to anyone. Just think a moment . . he has only been into brugs approx. a year. Most of his brugs were received from members of BGI and Dave's. Somewhere, from someone, he received a contaminated brug which spread to other plants. Most of his brugs were planted in the ground and we know it can spread through soil. He also admitted that he did not sterlize his pruners as Monika has stated is the proper way. I am not aware of many here that do put their pruners in boiling water after each use. Maybe after this, more will.
Can all of you see how this can be passed around without even knowing if one has it. It could take two years for it to show up . . hence, the 2 year quarentine if you import. It is impossible to find the beginning of how and where David got this, but we do know that it came from someone on the forums. I sent him many cuttings myself and even though I don't have signs of it, there is always the possiblity that I had thrown out a brug that did not show signs when I took cuttings. I clean out and throw brugs away every spring and fall. I think most of us do this and only keep cuttings of some. If it does not appear sick then there is no way I would know.
I promised to send out numerous brugs to 5 people and I regretfully say that I will not be doing that. It scares me so much that my head might wind up on the chopping block next.

I have to agree Brugnanny,if my memory is correct, which most of the time it is not,but it does seem that David has just stating to build his collection, the last year or so.
This sure is sad to see this here on DG,I feel sorry for the Newbie that was unsure if they would be ridiculed for asking a simple Brug question.
David, the plants above sure look Ok,I'd be tempted to Email you.
But,as Brugnany said above,I too am putting my yard into a quarantine, just for peace of mind,no cuttings in,no cuttings out.
I have a plant that is at K State now,it did not look as bad as many I have seen here, but I am not going to take the chance.
I sure wish there was a way to end this.............
People you are out of control! This has to stop and stop now. Why ruin the joy or growing a plant for everybody with your pent up hate. I could care less who likes who or who doesn't. But when you start ruining the joy of gardening for all of us its time to stop and take notice. We all have allot to learn about SB and we need to learn from each other. Pointing fingers is not going to accomplish that. Let's just agree to disagree and get on with it. Let's share all the information we can to learn how to solve the problem and do the best we can.
Folks, we're done here. No one (and I mean NO ONE) should post to this thread after this message. Further posting may result in some very serious consequences.
I happened to find this thread fairly late, and I won't disturb Dave at nearly 10 pm on a Sunday night for this stuff, but I will bring it to his attention bright and early tomorrow morning, and let him decide what to do with the thread. In the meantime, leave this thread and the general topic alone.
