I was wondering if anyone has info on concrete ponds. I would like to make one about 3-4 feet above ground, so I have a source of water in my garden. And I will throw some guppies in it to eat the mosquitos.
concrete pond
Hi Hau, it you don't get a response to the concrete pond question, try the Water Garden Forum. Those people are pretty sharp!
Thank you golddog. I visited a great garden this summer and they had many set up throughout the garden but there is no web site to reach them for info. I'll give your surgestion a try.

I had a small concrete pond and eventually it cracked and didn't hold water very well, anyway the racoons got all my fish. :( So I gave up. Sorry to be so negative. But it just didn't work for me.
If you do use concrete for a pond be sure and treat the concrete with a solution of vinegar and water. The dose I have here reads "half cup of vinegar to a half gallon of water. Scrub it into the concrete, rinse, repeat three times."
I personally think a linered pond is much better because you never have to worry about cracking. Just put a underliner under it so that anything sharper won't pierce the liner.
Good luck. Lani
HAU YOU DON'T SAY WHAT SIZE YOU ARE THINKING YOU NEED.THE FARM STORES SELL SOME PRETTY BIG PLASTIC WATER TANKS THAT MAY WORK FOR YOU?
YOU HAVE GIVEN ME A GREAT IDEA FOR A HUGE WALL OF WATER FOR SPRING STARTS THANKS.
Tanks for all the sugestions. It is much appreciated.
the Guppies wont be able to take the gold in the fall or winter
Mark, I will let the guppies go when jack frost comes or have a fish fry.
I usually use gold fish in our small water lilly pond they can live in pretty cold water besides they can eat more bugs
Happy birthday April !
So did you ever do your pond?
Hoe did you do it ?
What is the vinegar solution for ?
Purification or to prevent cracking.
thanks yall
