Great seeds to give away

Santiago, Chile(Zone 9b)

Hello!

Annabellegaby's request is the last one I will take until I have sorted all requests out and see what's left. Thank you all very much for giving my seeds a new home and allowing me to go ahead with my compulsory behaviour (seed collecting - LOL).

Hello to everybody!

I have a lot of seeds left and our new collecting-season is about to start. I will send 10 to 15 different packages of your choice (please list 20 or more in case some have gone).

Subscribed Members have the first choice.

You don't have to send anything in exchange. No postage required. Only if you can and you are happy with the seeds I am sending you, please send Dave (yes, the one from Daves Garden - LOL) one dollar (or a buck!) as a contribution for members that cannot pay for their membership renewal. I have been in that situation before and there was always an angel there for me.

This is what I have:

Botanical name, common name, colour of the flowers, amount of seeds per trade

CHILEAN NATIVE PLANTS:

Astragalus arnottianus (showy inflated seed-pods), purple flowers (30) A.

Cassia multiglandulosa (syn. Senna multiglandulosa), lovely shrub with clusters of golden-yellow flowers (30) P.

Ursula, I speak for myself and I believe everyone else here at DG's that this was a very sweet and thoughtful thing to do for those who cant renew membership due to hardships. We all have been there I think, well I have at least more than one occasion in my life. I hope to contribute and make someone happy to be back here with us. Don't feel frustrated, there will be some more seeds. All I ask you is to be a little patient, because I'm still packing the seeds I comitted for the "first round" (up to Annabellegabby incl.). These will be mailed on Monday (yesterday was our Independence Day and today is a holiday too -Army Day). As soon as I complete these 20+ envelopes, I will publish what's left in a new thread under the same terms of this one.

WOW, I never expected such success!

Hello to all participants!

Yesterday I sent the following mail to all participants, but my Yahoo Mailer Daeamon reported some failure deliveries. Therefore I'm repeating the text here so everybody can read it:

Dear Amigos,

I am very pleased because today the first 2 DG Registered Members have received their seeds: Annabellegabby and TombstoneJan. The seeds for all the members of the first round were mailed the same day, so yours should arrive within this week. Please keep me updated.

I thought maybe some of the Chilean Native Plants could be unknown to you. An Altavista search led me to this link: http://www.ujf-grenoble.fr/JAL/chili/. If you go to the list of plants page http://www.ujf-grenoble.fr/JAL/chili/ and make a click on the botanical names, you will find beautiful pictures of the flowers. However, as anything created by humans, this is not fully perfect. I have not gone through all pictures yet, but already found 2 mistakes. Stachys grandidentata actually pictures a Schizanthus and Helenium aromaticum pictures something totally different. All in all, the page is great!

Thanks to all of you for giving my precious seeds good new homes. Just remember not to overwater the plants and provide them with good drainage.

An additional "thank you" to all the participants that were able to send a donation for the Garden Angels Fund. Remember this was not a condition to get the seeds, but an absolutely voluntary donation for a fund I personally think is great.

Please, if anyone has tiG's e-mail, send her a copy of this mail - I cannot find her address.

I wish you all a mild winter, planning where you will plant the seeds from Chile, imagining how your garden will look next spring and great success with the sowing process. At that time I will be sun-baking and collecting fresh seeds to exchange with you next year.

A big hug,

Ursula

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)
