Gracious, but that thing looks ugly. Whooooey!

Villa Rica, GA(Zone 7a)

Hope and pray it doesn't hit here in GA! I've already been thru one "Opal" and don't want to go thru another one.

Western, PA(Zone 6a)

I have relatives living on Manteo. They are not sure exactly when they will leave. Their drugstore has to stay open 'til a certain warning is given. Leaving the Outer Banks is not easy. Once my cousin tried to leave Manteo but no one would let her on to the highway heading west. She turned back and stayed home while the rest of the family made it inland. True story.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

its suppose to hit NC and move up the coast and inland!!!
prayers going up for everyone in her path!

they say they pick up speed when they hit land!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

this thing is going to effect a lot of people here at DG and I'm praying for you all.

Walkerton, VA(Zone 7a)

This is a real good site for tracking this beast.

Check you link raised bed - hope it is incorrect as they suggest it may go up the Chesapeake to North Beach, we have one cottage on either side of Rose Haven right at North Beach and my MIL remembers in 1954 when all the sand from the beach was blown into the yard behind the cottages. Just finished a lot of maintenance on one cottage, hope it holds up. Hopefully, we will just get a lot of rain and some wind here in Hagerstown.

Everyone else, please take care and don't mess around with this one even though it is downgraded, they say it could pick up momentum as it gets closer to land.

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

All you folks on the East Coast please button, tie, zip board and anything else you can do..Looks like yall are in for a real doozie.....prayers for all....Let us know how yall are when its over..... :o(

Morristown, NJ(Zone 6a)

RODANTHE, N.C. (Sept. 16) - Cars, recreational vehicles and SUVs streamed inland from North Carolina's Outer Banks on Tuesday as up to 90,000 people were urged to get out of the way of Hurricane Isabel, the most powerful storm in four years to menace the mid-Atlantic coast.

Virginia has mobilized its National Guard troops, and authorities have urged thousands in North Carolina to evacuate. As Hurricane Isabel surges toward the East Coast, with landfall predicted for Thursday, those in its path scramble to prepare.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

GOD BLESS ALL !!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Getting windy here folks...with bit of rain, and we're about 150-200 miles from various parts of the coast. Most of the schools are closed. Supposed to get the big winds this afternoon...possible tree-downs/power outtages and such. The folks east of us are gonna really get it. Be thinking of them!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Little breezy here right now - all the schools are closing early and staying closed tomorrow. Metro in DC closing at 11 am - Eastern shore Ocean City getting 40 mph winds right at the moment and high tide is around 2pm. Going home at noon myself and taking kittens inside for the duration. Take care shoe, and everyone else in her path.

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

Getting windy here too Shoe with spits of rain starting. Will get a lot worse this afternoon/tonight. All our schools and such are closed too.

Stay safe!!!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Stay under cover jody! Sounds like it will get nasty down your way.

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

We are still watching and listening folks....hoping and praying everyone will be allright...... :o(

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

We just got word at the Courthouse that liberal leave goes into effect at noon today and the building will be closed tomorrow. Will be heading home here shortly. Everyone please take care,
Candee

Whewww!...just heard 100,000 w/out power already. East coast towns are flooded of course, mostly on the islands and lowland coastal areas. Just heard on the news that Virginia has nearly half a million w/out power and they haven't even gotten the major brunt of the storm.
(And here I am selfishly worrying about my greenhouse and projectiles going thru the windows, and loss of power.)

We've had intermittant rain, big winds, and 'tis s'posed to get worse BUT looks like we'll only have winds around 40mph with gusts doing more here and there.

See ya'll later.

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

Keep your heads under cover folks ... please!!

We're all hoping your safe.

Just brought in last of shells off the isle as they are predicting 40-60 mph wind here in higher elev. of md. Just hope all the sand doesn't blow away !!! Saw on news that North Beach, where our bay cottages are is starting to get hammered with high surf and winds, just too many places to be concerned about what with those and our house in the path and the cottage at the Gap which hasn't been battoned down, don't know what we may have to go fetch when this is over.
Ya'all take care.

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

Everybody please take care and try to keep letting us know you are okay. Keeping everybody in my thoughts and prayers.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

The wind is starting to pick up here in west md, but the worst is yet to come with torrential rains and some hurricane force winds late this eve, hopefully they will be gusts and the trees will be able to withstand it. That is our major concern as we are surrounded by large trees and they are already saturated beyond their means with all the rain this season. Will keep you posted as long as possible. Just talked to Tasha in OC and the surf is up and winds are quite strong, but so far so good and she still has electric.
BTW the Isle of our Dreams is deserted LOL!

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

haighr...hope you have water stored up, and turn the fridge to Colder...(when you lose power at least the food will stay fresher longer). With the ground saturated ya'll will lose power to fallen trees.

Those winds came on fast, didn't they!? Trees are losing leaves left and right, flying thru the air on the winds.

Lights flicker on and off sometimes, as if trees are rubbing power lines somewhere.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Checkin'in here. Winds up, beginning to rain buckets - generator ready. Calling for 70 mph winds and 10" rain, trees beginning to bend way over!!! Looks likes a rough night ahead!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

Candee - got mail and thanks! Can't reply as I'm taking server down @ work - makin' like a baby and headin' out !

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Dea I emailed my cell phone # to ya and jody if needed. Just brought cats and kittens in, even strays need to be out of the way of this thing. Right about the rough night Dea news saying Frederick and Hagerstown will get hit hard with high, sustained wind because of being in the Mts.
Hang in there, will try to post again.
Thanks Shoe, got it covered as much as we can, thanks for everyone's input and great advice!
Candee

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Good luck Dea, call if you need to. Looks like it is gonna be a tough night!

Frederick, MD(Zone 6a)

First arbor w/autumn clematis going now - with a 100 lb sandbag on it. Gonna be a long one - be safe everyone!

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

You too Dea, sent my cell phone to ya if there is anything we can do, can't imagine what it would be LOL! got a 100lb sandbag on my cactus root planter and all else looks like nobody lives here LOL!
Hope we don't get the brunt in the mts. they are suggesting we will, but not looking good out there right now. Kittens and cats are happy campers so far, not bad for ferrel animals.

montgomery, AL(Zone 7b)

My son lives in Suffolk, VA in my house there & his lites are out. He is about 30 miles from VA beach. He has sever Bi-polor & gets upset so easy. If his phone goes out so he can't reach me I don't know what he will do. He doesn't have a car & is alone & scared. His whole life is his puter & for now he doesn't have that. I hope the lite will be on soon & no damage to my house.
The picture is one of my best friends house in Suffolk (not my house)

Power in the insect
Power in the sea
Power in the snow falling silently
Power in the blossom
Power in the stone
Power in the song being sung alone
Power in the wheatfield
Power in the rain
Power in the sunlight and the hurricane
Power in the silence
Power in the flame
Power in the sound of the lover's name
The power of the sunrise and the power of a prayer released

Northern NJ - Windy! Windy! Windy! - Not as much rain as predicted, alot of tree branches down, some trees too!
Leaves all over the place.
Very Warm and Balmy - Strange, kinda tropical feel in the air.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

aHope all of you in Isabel's path have faired well without too much problem. My daughter in Fairfax, VA was one of the lucky ones. House is surrounded by trees but luckily only branches broke off. She had no water, and when it did come on late this afternoon they were told to boil all. Lots of limbs on the ground but nothing really serious. Best of luck to rest of you. Donna

Efland, NC(Zone 7a)

Sierra...Jackson Browne said that right, eh?

Hoping all is getting better and better. WE have power again, but many other are still without.

Keep thinking (praying) for those less fortunate than we are.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Hiya shoe,glad to see ya!!!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Wheeew......glad so many of yall are checking in and that everyone seems to have come through this in pretty good shape......... :o)

MERCER, PA(Zone 5a)

Aw......it wasn't too bad. LOL

Edit for repeating word. It must have been from all the wind in my brain. Sorry.

and P.S. We moved over 1,500 mums indoors for fear of the wind breaking their fragile stems. We never did get the high winds that were predicted. It was just a bit more breezy than a regular rain storm. All in all, we were most fortunate.
