I have just recived seeds of the following and would like to know if any of you have grown these and how did you sprout them....
Shoofly (Nicandra physaloides)
Chiclate Vine (Akebia quinata)
Hawaiian Baby Woodrose (Argyreia nervosa)
Any other information would be helpful as I have never grown them before....... thanks .....:O)
Hawaiian Baby Woodrose...etc
If you can chip the seed coat of the Argyreia it will help them germinate faster. I use fingernail clippers and just nick it enough to see the white inside the seed. Soak them in water over night and then plant.
Thanks Poppy, I am trying to decide if I want to plant these now or wait...I have alot to winter over and no greenhouse yet..I will probably have to wait, just to much to bring in right now............ :o)
I grew them one year but never got any blooms. I didn't bother trying to winter them over. I'd start them in late winter and transplant them out in spring. With your longer season you may have a chance for blooms the first year. I'd imagine it's hardy in your zone 9...
