PDB: What is a synonym?

We frequently find all kinds of interesting names in the synonym fields, so my question (and response) is to clarify that the synonym fields are to be used for botanical synonyms only. The system is currently set to accept up to five synonyms for each entry.

If you know of another common name that should be added to an entry, please use the "Report an error" link while you're viewing the entry, and tell us about the additional name(s) that you believe should be added.
